D.M Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Hey, I kind of this problem when I am tonguing, my throat bounces alot and it kind of hurts just a little bit after I play after extended period of time, anyway advice? :] Quote
azncmasta Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 seems like you're using your WHOLE tongue to articulate notes. i play clarinet, but the concept should be similar, so i'd recommend keeping the back of the tongue still and focus on minimal movement of the tongue. that's just a little basic tip. hopefully someone can expand on what i'm writing... anyways, good luck! BassoonPadwan Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 It sounds to me like you are tensing up from your neck up. Relax your neck. Tonguing should not involve your neck. Throat is open. Your tongue should stay down, and just come up to tongue. You could be doing this because you are using too much embouchure and not enough air. Push and support from the diaphram. Especially while tonguing. But I would recommend over anything that you go to a private teacher with your problem. Have a great day! ~Mike Quote
Nancy08 Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I've realized that I definately don't use the tip of my tounge, but my speed and accuracy of rythem haven't really suffered, so I haven't bothered to fix it... Quote

My memory fails me at the moment........ you were gonna be a performance major weren't you.......? If so, I would definitely try and fix it. lol Quote
