it is posible for a 1st year high school to compete

pearlands 2nd high is going to this contest (Dawson High School)

well i didn't doubt if they could or not, i just didn't know they would.....

because only freshmen & sophmores make up the school..... that's why they don't have a varsity football team, i thought something like that would go on with the band also.....?

im guessing no-one know's what the show is called? or any of thatt?

Mr. Cooper said that they would be competing in maybe 2 small contests(that Westfield/Spring weren't competing in) this year and then move on to BOA the next year.

but spring is competing...?

oh well, i think its pretty amazing that they can get everything going that fast!

oops sorry. Since he told me hi didn't want to compete against Westfield, I assumed Spring too and completely forgot they were going to LSP too.

I believe their show is called "The Journey Begins"

the first year our school was in existence, we also only had freshmen and sophomores, but the band did go to competition, as an exhibition group, not an actual competitor for finals and all that.

perhaps they are doing something similar??

Top two will be close with Brazoswood and TWCP.

Next two will be between Spring then Pearland. After that, i dont really know. I dont know a whole lot about the other bands. =( But i belive Oak Ridge, Friendswood and Hendrickson will make it to finals but dont quote me on that =)

disappointing indeed. however, a lot went wrong and I'm not surprised.

Brazoswood, Spring, Woodlands CP was the top 3 for 5A in that order

Dawson swept the 3A division, as they were the only band in that category.

Hendrickson was 1st, Friendswood was 2nd in the 4A

these were for prelims.

from what i've heard brazoswood took first place in prelims and took outstanding Percussion, Music and General Effect.

yay, for them. i'm really sad that i haven't been able to see them this year.

Yesturday was amazing.

Taking first in 4A and sweeping almost all the awards but GE in Pre-lims.

Then getting to march last in Finals.

And tieing with College Park Visal.

Then losing to Spring the Drum Award by .2 of a point.

Taking 2ed overall.

I was so excited and so proud of our band.

That was such a Big Day.

And congrats to all.

Hendrickson decided not to go to BOA Arlington because of a late Friday football game in Marble Falls, and a early show time (9 am) in Arlington. Lone Star gave us (Hendrickson) a later show time (3pm), which allowed for us to get some sleep. It was a pretty remarkable day for us, winning 1st place in prelims, then finishing tied for 2nd in finals. Then things got interesting as one of our buses was in an accident on the way home (after we got back to Austin). We had several injuries, but thankfully none serious. We did lose several pieces of equipment though, so we are scrambling to try to make it to Region later today.

i'm glad all of you are okay.

Thank you, that is kind. We competed last night in UIL Region, and got a 1, which allows us to advance to area. As I said on another thread, MANY THANKS to Connally HS, Westwood HS, Elgin HS, and Pflugerville Kelly Lane Middle School for allowing us to borrow equipment in order to compete. Band is truly a community.

We were told of the accident and hope you are all ok.

You guys were also very classy Saturday night which was very cool. The respect level I have for you all is very high.

Best of luck to you all at Area...state all the way.
