ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 we are done with the second movement, about 47 sets i think. the closer has more pictures than the first two movements combined (56 i think) Quote
BassoonPadwan Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I'm not sure the EXACT number but we have three movements. I could ballpark 80-90 adding up the numbered set we end on on each movement. They're not the cleanest things in the world though. Long ways to go. I can't wait to see what are fourth movement is gonna look like also! That's for next week.... Quote
the terminator Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Same here, in fact we finished the whole show. It's about 75 sets, but we will leave out the last 6 or 7 for our performance. Yeah, third movement is pretty bad, so we are in a frenzy to clean as much as possible Quote
oDesign Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 langham has about 10 sets on the field right now. ..the least of any school in houston, mostly thanks to our horrible drill writer. (who was fired a week or so ago and replaced by Mark Chambers, who is actually doing what we pay him to do correctly)..and we've been getting alot of rain. What sucks most about being so behind, is that this is going to be our first year ever at Super Regionals, so we were already going to be out of our element since its BOA. oh man, this years really going to be interesting. Only good thing is my band always has really clean sets to begin with (seeing as we spend forever learning them), so once the show IS done, we need less time to clean than most bands. but still, WE NEED TO LEARN MORE SETS Quote
Nancy08 Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 The rain slowed us down last week but we finally got movement 2 down. Our school only has 3 mvmts total and only 80ish charts when its all over. Right now I think we're at 45 or something like that. Next week we'll perform the second movement of our show for our game against Bryan. Quote
borchnork Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 we just received the third mvmt.'s drill today, so we marked about 8 sets, but only marched through about 4 or 5 of them... It takes us up to set 41... and what we have drill wise right now takes us almost to the end of the mvmt. 3, so hopefully we start the closer in the next 2 weeks! Quote
the terminator Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 good for you for us a total of about 70 Quote
borchnork Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 our show is very firework oriented... idk how to really describe it... like, in our 2nd mvmt, the woodwinds hold for 24 counts in these circles, but then in 8 counts, double, or almost triple the size of the circles. and then in our 3rd mvmt. the first 2 or 3 sets looks like little firecrackers exploding. I love things that go "BOOM!!!" Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 we actually only have 64 numbered sets. however, there are many many many sub-sets. example, we have 50a-i and 52a-j (we've just learned through the 52j sequence). Quote
clarinetrocks Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 i'm acutally suprised we have a lot of sets done :] it excites me for the rest of the year Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 we are on course to finish the drill by next monday or even this friday, if weather permits. Quote
borchnork Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I'd like to make a correction to my last post. our drill that we have goes all the way to the end of the 3rd mvmt. 3 down and 1 to go!!! but unfortunately, we hold during the 7/8 bar... Quote

barisaxy08 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 we just completed 104 sets and are still truckin! the most drill i've ever seen in my marching band career. Quote
azncmasta Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 finished it today! my last time learning show drill in high school... Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 yeah, when we finished the drill, I called a senior meeting regarding our last "last set". class of 08!!! yeah! Quote
oDesign Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 we just got new revised sets for the end of our movement 2 today. Three sets to go, then we're done with the opener and movement 2. We'll probably finish that thursday [our next rehearsel] Whats left is to learn more visuals [tai-chi stuff] this saturday before our game and then learn all of third movement, which is a beast. Its really long in comparison to the first two. Quote
urkadrums Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 finished today. even though im in the pit, i knew the band was really excited to be finished early. Quote
yesac519 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 We have all the movements down, but are still working with the last 5 sets of the fourth/closer. I'm extremely excited about next saturday at BOA Houston. __ Sent from my iPhone James Bowie HS, Austin, TX Quote
