SerialSleeper90 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 lmao every single time I see this topic's title I instantly think of Borat... "Vary naihce!!!" "Hao mach?!" Quote
MaverickBand15 Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 We went to contest this weekend and we stood at set 63 and played to the end of the show, but this week we are finishing up the end of the show which is like set 70. Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 30, 2007 Author Posted September 30, 2007 different Maverick Bands... we're going to be cutting out the first 4 sets for UIL purposes. even going over tempo, we are 8 seconds over. Quote

If we playing all our pieces at EXACT tempo, we come up with about 7 and 1/2 minutes of music. If you add in transition times between pieces, plus tempo fluctuations, we come right up (possibly over) to the 8 minute mark. Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Well, seeing as I am an alum of Hebron, I inquired about the show and what not. My informant requested that I do not release specifics, but apparently they have over 110 pages of drill with more movements to complete. Man, I remember my senior year when we had 80 pages of drill and I thought that was a lot... Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 College Park just finished our show today. We just need to clean the end of our closer. Quote
borchnork Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 WE FINISHED LEARNING TODAY! yah... it needs a lot of cleaning, and the end of our closer needs to go about 40 beats faster still. But we'll get it! Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 It was sad... that was our last set... maybe forever. Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I know, sad to think that I will never learn another set in HS again. Quote
Malletguy22 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 we finished with 87 (i think?) sets..... were just doing a lot of spring cleaninggg lol Quote
lionbc Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Now, we have most of the show down, just a few charts in the third/last movement left, as far as I know. The end is still not the best, but I think we have it down fairly well. Last year we had our whole show down by our first competition, this year we didn't, but we still had most of it. I'm just sad that they took away paint pen priveleges, so no more "THIS IS MY LAST CHART EVER!!!", but I still got to put down "LAST OPENER CHART EVER!", that's when we still had them. Quote

Quote
borchnork Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I love paint pens! It's a Sharpie that is basically a pen with paint rather than ink. We use it on the parking lot to mark sets permanently so that it only comes out after a lot of rain and sunshine. Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 I kind of realized that after I posted...haha We are still old fashioned I guess. We still use chalk. Paint pens huh? How do you not get confused with all of these semi-permanent marks on the field? Doesn't it defeat the purpose? Or would you take a hose to the parking lot after a certain point in the drill is reached? Quote
borchnork Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 well, the paint fades really quickly. and also, I'm not sure what other schools do, but we put our initials on our spot, and we also have 6-7 different colors of pens so if you memorize the color (and you know your initials) it's pretty easy. Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 okay. I was just wondering about the lastingness of the paint. We have spot numbers (I'm #19) and we just mark the outlines of the feet, with 19-#set. Quote
borchnork Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 so we finally marched mvmt. 4 today at tempo! holy CRAP! the end will kill me if I play the whole time as loud as possible!!! 172 is not a fun tempo. Quote
ddmwingz Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 its gonna be really tough. it will be one heck of a show, IF we can pull it off Quote
borchnork Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 if we do, then I don't see much in the way of competition. the drill is really awesome for that tempo. Quote
