I know this isn't a huge important contest, but it's the first contest of the year for alot of people. So I wanted to know who was going.

what do you guys think? any predictions?

I'll hafta say (in no particular order) that the top 10 are:

 

1. Mckinney

2. Plano West

3. Centennial

4. Wylie

5. The Colony

6. Creekview

7. Sachse

8. Aledo

9. Grapevine

10. Mansfield

Division Champs:

 

Div. IV:

Ranchview... obviously

 

Div. III:

Really Close... I actually don't know if I could choose...

 

Div. II:

Centennial

 

Div. I:

Between Sachse, Aledo, Creekview, Mansfield and Grapevine... another one of those that's really too close to call.

this contest lose it's fun b/c it's a week later, half of the bands will make finals. if at end of september, more bands will particapate.

I would have just picked all the returning bands, but most of these bands didn't go to Carrolton last year...

 

It just had to be on the same day as Birdville this year... =[

So thats why not as many bands are gonna be there. I was wonderin what was goin on.

 

Anyways, my guess for finals(in no particular order) is gonna be Sachse, Mansfield, Creekview, Grapevine, Aledo, The Colony, Centennial, Wylie, McKinney North, Carroll.

 

It'll be interesting though. I dont think theres any single band that outclasses all the others(based on prior years).

Well the main reason not many bands are going such as last year's 30 or 31 is because you have the DeSoto Classic, UTA Marching Contest, Birdville Marching Festival and others I cant think on top of my head.

 

It would be pretty immature or myself to assume the finals placement of these bands based on last year when I have no idea how they sound like this year.

I agree with you about "assuming finals placement based on prior years". It doesnt really mean a whole lot. It's just some speculation and some fun.

Although the physical number of bands is small, there is a nice little block of 4A Area B bands (McKinney, McKinney North, Centennial, Aledo, The Colony.) TOC should be a nice marker of progress.....

Yea. I agree with you there. Its kinda gonna be a mini-preview of area B.

joy... it'll be like the first gun shot in a war... just sparks off the rest of the competition until Area B in October.

 

David, I'm curious as to why you feel the Mckinney North would make finals over Mckinney High... I think they're almost exactly at the same level...

oh yah... it's also slightly Ironic that this "mini-area B" contest is going to be held in the exact same stadium that the real contest is at...

that's how it was last year for 5a area b.

so on second thought it's almost nothing like the 4-A area B.

No particular reason that i picked mckinney north over mckinney. just did, i guess. after all, its just like predicting whos gonna win a football game. there may be a favorite but you still pick who U feel is gonna win. other than that, no idea

Well, last year Mansfield scored pretty high in the contest.

They also were number won in Percussion and Guard.

 

Seeing their show, Creekview's show, and Plano West's show, I would have to say that Mansfield would win in GE for sure.

 

Music is something I always have a hard time.

Every band has a different sound.

 

Btw, if you look at the predictions, ignore mine. I want to change them.

yah... I'm rethinking my predictions... I feel they are WAY off... except for some of the bottom few spots... I realized that I gave ALL the caption awards to bands who weren't even in the top 3 spots...
