mbui Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 The first major event to kick off the 2007 Texas marching band season. Looks like it's going to be an incredible Regional. Take notice of the last block...extremely competitive. Quote
Danpod Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I can't wait to rant about the last block. Whoever chose those three bands to be the last we see in Prelims must be a real sick person! Unfortunately, I have a family event that will prevent me from attending BOA Houston Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 dang, we would have had to march that first time slot if we were to march BOA Houston. i'll see if i can go that day to watch. Quote
mbui Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 QUOTE (cjflash @ Sep 18 2007, 09:02 PM) Kind of randomly, does anyone know which direction the stadium faces? I'd hate to be marching at 4:00 in the afternoon with the sun shinging in my eyes. I get enough of that at afterschool practice. The press box faces the East. If you're performing on the field, then you'll be facing West. Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Wow....is that last block stacked or what? Quote
bossman Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 anyone else piss their pants in excitement??? JW HEY! Check out the first block too...the last fours slots are pretty sweet. Quote
mbui Posted September 20, 2007 Author Posted September 20, 2007 If you're a Facebook user and either performing or attending the BOA Houston Regional, you can add the event by clicking the link below. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=13056705525&ref=mf Quote
Serardian Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I've heard good things about the Lafayette band from Louisiana. Quote
Nancy08 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I'm so excited that competition season is starting this week. First USSBA, then off to a BOA Comp. Quote
oDesign Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Im not sure if langham is going to go to this anymore. And if we do, im almost sure well be embaressed. Right now, i dont see any possible way well have our show learned. We're too behind. There are so many problems. With having our drill re-written ,this being a HUGE re-building year for the band, and seeing as we still havnt gotten all the music for the closer, i dont see how we can perform at the level we usually do. The drill Mark Chambers is writing is so fantastic, and the music is difficult and actually enjoyable to listen to [a big difference from the "boring" show music we usually play, apparently]. This is the best BOA show we've had at this school, but theres just been so many setbacks. This is really depressing. Quote
bossman Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 don't worry dude/dudette, you could have worse problems. (trust me) Quote
mbui Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 5 days until the competition.... The first major BOA event to kick off the 2007 marching band season here in Texas. The event will be held at the beautiful Pearland HS stadium in Pearland, Texas, a suburb 10 miles south of Houston. Looks like it's going to be a great early season competition. I'll be at the Houston Regional all day beginning at 7am. Right on the 50, up near the press box. Should be a great one. Thoughts and my own personal score sheets (more info on that here) will be posted here as always. Quote

mbui Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 QUOTE (Danpod @ Oct 1 2007, 05:06 PM) If you're referring to the Lafayette that made Grand National Finals in 2004, that Lafayette was from Kentucky. Lafayette HS from Louisiana is a pretty good band too. They're one of or if not the best in their state. In marching band, they've made BOA Regional Finals numerous times and have come close to making Finals at the Arlington Regional on a few occasions. Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I've heard that Westfield and Langahm Creek may pull out. If its true I wish that our band could take Westfields slot so we dont have to play at freaking 9:15. Quote

oDesign Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Langham pulled out, we were just told today. We're going to some other contest on Saturday instead. BOA Houston was going to be way to competitive for where we are in our show right now, not to mention we would have had to start rehearsel at 5 am Saturday morning, after comming back from a football game with a pickup time of 12:15. Ha, have 250+ kids in the mindset to perform after basically 4 hours of sleep? no way. Im sort of relieved. We would have seriously embaressed ourselves. We basically JUST started the closer today (we learned the first five sets of it). Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Ive heard from mutiple sources that The Woodlands HS has pulled out also. Quote
mbui Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 The final version of the BOA Houston schedule has been posted. View the top of this thread for the schedule. Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Ive now heard that Oak Ridge has pulled out also, although they are still on the schedule. Quote
AverageMarcher Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I just spoke with a friend of mine from Oakridge, and he says that they have not pulled out. Unless their planning to tell the band the day before the competition that they arnt going, then they are still scheduled to perform on saturday. Quote
mbui Posted October 6, 2007 Author Posted October 6, 2007 Tomorrow is the day. Hopefully the rain will be just spotty showers. I'll be there bright and early at 7am. I'll be wearing my Whitacre 'Paradise Lost' shirt so if you see someone wearing that at the stadium, it'll most likely be me. Reviews and etc will be up by (or on) Monday. Quote
