ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 do you guys have interesting sets that have been named? we have a set near the end of the closer called the "Death Star" = if a judge unknowingly stands right where it forms, he's dead. Quote
borchnork Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 my sophomore year we had "The Squiggly"... it was basically 2 giant arcs with the whole band in it. Last year we had "The House Set"... it somewhat resembled a house... this year... nothing. Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Well, personally, I nickname a whole bunch of sets, especially this year since I get to see everything. There's the bell set (duh), the missing no. set (from pokemon), the bird head/beak set, the vice grip set, and a whole bunch of other sets that are to remain nameless for now... Quote
ddmwingz Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 lol. wang, ur gonna have to clue me in on the set names Quote
borchnork Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 yah... there were two from last year that aren't really appropriate to say. and then one flute player in our band named two sets in our third mvmt... can't say those here either. Quote
smoke_dawg_08 Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 yea we had some good ones, i remember freshman year we had the whale and the letters formed...a D and an S i think, lol not really sure though, i can't remember very many Quote
bonepit06-07 Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 we have the crown...thats the only one i can think off Quote
gavinrh Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 we have the ever popular Sleep set... Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 sleep? sleep is good. i like sleep. Quote
borchnork Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 is the sleep set like, a bunch of random Z's??? It'd be interesting to see. Quote
gavinrh Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 No, actually haha it's the set we used in Sleep in 05... the huge arc's? and we used it last year and i've heard a band from around austin is using it this year...or actually that their drill is really similar to ours from 05 in sleep Quote
borchnork Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 unfortunately, I never saw the show... so I'm pretty clueless still. it does still sound quite interesting. Quote
Nancy08 Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 We had a rocket set last year. then the next set was "when the rocket took off"... This year some people think one set looks like a monkey, while others say it looks like a bird. We also have a chart that i use a hand motion for while saying "boing" or some other random sound...it looks like a "K". We also have a bunch of pod charts. And the chart "where the woodwinds hold forever." Quote
borchnork Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 yah... we have a 24 count woodwind hold... it's depressing... especially cus the next set is like... extremely hard to make. Quote
Vegiphobe Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Well, I don't want to give away too much of our cool sets, but just think lots of arrows. You'll just have to come see it! There should be quite a bit of cool visuals too by TOC. (Hide and Seek has quite a few) Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 near the end of the closer, we have a set of chaos drill (count sequence 6,6,6) followed by the set named (by our drill writer) "Apocalypse" (6 counts) Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 lmao! that's pretty cool. I can just imagine... "Band! - what is the count sequence?" "6!" "6!" "6!" Quote
borchnork Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 that's actually rather scary... =[ Quote
barisaxy08 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 we have a "labyrinth" set...beat that! Quote

" lmao! that's pretty cool. I can just imagine... "Band! - what is the count sequence?" "6!" "6!" "6!" " 6! the "Apocalypse" is the 4th set of 6. Quote

AverageMarcher Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 last year we had a set that we called "The Happy Crab" this year my section has a few things like: the judge killer sperm set flying football sideways eight (infinity sign) the bike and our last set is the darth vader set. Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 we also have a fish, drumstick, butterfly, and of course, no marching show is complete without the "parallelogram" Quote
oDesign Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 ha! we have a "parallelogram" set too! except, after last saturday's game it has been renamed "the blob". Its the last set of our second movement, and we learned it litereally a few hours before our game saturday, so obviously, noone retained it too well. Its supposed to be a paralellogram, but it (quite literally!) looked like a big blob. ..but then 3/4 of the band ran off the field while those who passed their music played half of third movement in place, and the blob looked slightly better. lol.
