the terminator Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Just got the list of bands at PESH Marching invitational and it will be rough There are a total of 38 bands in attendance. The bands to watch are Argyle, Whitesboro, and Robinson in 3A. 4A is loaded with Denison, McKinney Boyd, McKinney, Denton Guyer, Rockwall Heath, Sherman, Birdville and of course Poteet. 5A Plano, Rowlett, Allen, Wylie, Keller, Flower Mound, so pretty competitve, but the 4A is the one to watch as this sets up for the area competition 2 weeks later Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 dooh! dooh! dooh! EAST!!! lol. Quote
rhhsband Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Wow...I'm excited now...this competition should be very interesting to say the least... Quote
andrhs Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 i really liked plano east last year,,, Quote
crazyjakeup Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 oOOoooOOO!!! rowlett might win a contest with more than 10 bands attending... im excited Quote
PlayOboe Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I don't know.........Poteet has pulled off some pretty stellar upset victories at Plano East in the recent past (over Duncanville in 2004 and Berkner in 2005.) I think they can probably do it again. Quote
crazyjakeup Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 they might. rowlett has had problems early in the season(which happens every year)... rowlett beat poteet last year at misd... Quote
PlayOboe Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Indeed they did. I think Plano East is ultimately going to come down to Poteet and Rowlett with Keller and Birdville as dark horses. Heck, Allen could win with the right panel. This contest is way more stacked than it usually is. There's usually a big drop in quality after the top 3-4 bands that will not be present this year. Quote
rhhsband Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Does anyone have the actual schedule? I keep on checking Plano East's website, but it still says "coming soon". Quote

PlayOboe Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Well, after some very interesting results this weekend I think now is a good time to make predictions for Plano East. What I'm thinking right now: 1. Poteet 2. Wylie 3. Allen 4. Keller 5. Rowlett 6. Sherman 7. Flower Mound 8. Richardson 9. Plano 10. Naaman Forest EDIT: Apparently Birdville has pulled out and is now going to the Aledo contest. Interesting.... Quote
crazyjakeup Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 i think your pretty close but i would switch 2,3, and 5 around... Quote
PlayOboe Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Predictions are now up. Huzzah! Unfortunately, I submitted the list before I knew Birdville had withdrawn. Hopefully everyone remembers to take that into account. Quote

Donezo Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Prelims Results: 4A Outstanding Winds: Poteet Outstanding Percussion: Sherman Outstanding Marching: Poteet Outstanding General Effect: Poteet Outstanding Color Guard: Poteet Outstanding Drum Majors: McKinney Best in Class: Poteet 2nd in Class: Sherman 3rd in Class: McKinney Boyd 5A: Outstanding Winds: Wylie Outstanding Percussion: Flower Mound Outstanding Marching: Keller Outstanding General Effect: Keller Outstanding Color Guard: Rowlett Outstanding Drum Majors: Allen Best in Class: Wylie 2nd in Class: Keller 3rd in Class: Rowlett Rankings: 1. Wylie 2. Poteet 3. Keller 4. Rowlett 5. Richardson 6. Allen 7. Flower Mound 8. Sherman 9. McKinney Boyd 10. Mesquite Finals now begin at 8:15 due to some corrections in prelims captions. The corrections were: 5A Percussion from Rowlett to Flower Mound 5A Color Guard from Wylie to Rowlett 3rd in Class 5A from Richardson to Rowlett Needless to say, things were very close. Finals results will be interesting........ Also of interest: Sherman, Keller, and Poteet are all playing Danielpour's "Urban Dances." Plano switched to a "rating only" performance at the last minute (which baffles me. They probably could have made finals.) McKinney North entered as a last minute replacement for Birdville (and subsequently did not make finals, so that shouldn't throw off anyone's predictions...) Quote
Donezo Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 FINALS RESULTS: 1. Keller 2. Wylie 3. Poteet 4. Rowlett 5. Richardson 6. Allen 7. Sherman 8. Flower Mound 9. McKinney Boyd 10. Mesquite Outstanding Musical Performance: Keller Outstanding Visual Performance: Wylie Kudos to Keller on the upset victory! Quote
the terminator Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 Keller beat out both Wylie and Poteet wow impressive Quote
borchnork Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 isn't keller a 4A band from area B? oh great... Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 nonono. They are not from our area. Quote

Donezo Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Keller is a 5A band (as you can see from the prelims results.) They came in 18th at 5A State Marching Contest last year ahead of some strong competition (Clear Brook, Cedar Park, Klein, Hebron, Harlingen, SFA, Clements, etc.) Quote
borchnork Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 oh ok! thank god!! well then, YAY keller! I wonder how this Sherman Poteet competition will finally end. Quote
Donezo Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 That's a good question. Poteet beat Sherman pretty handily here, but some friends at the contest told me they think Sherman was seriously shafted. This was a tough competition and they still did pretty darn well if you ask me. They placed behind five strong 5A bands and the defending 4A state champ. I think they are still well on their way to claiming one of the coveted Area B state slots and eventually their third consecutive state finals appearance. Quote
