MaverickBand15 Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Our Colorguard is using a giant Bed in the show and we are using ladder, and of course rifles and flags. Quote
borchnork Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 We'll be using: Chimes (beginning of mvmt. 1) Flags (mid to end of mvmt 1) Swing Flags (mvmt 2) Rifles (mvmt 3) Sabers (start of mvmt 4) (flags again) (middle of mvmt 4) Hand Bells (end of mvmt 4) and in the first part of our opener our guard has a lyrical dance where their uniforms are supposed to make them look like little bells when the twirl. Also, the Chimes and Hand Bells part hasn't been added yet, and I think that's something that might be saved for Area and State only. Quote
ddmwingz Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 call me stupid but, whats the difference between a swing flag and a regular flag? Quote
borchnork Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 regular flags have a pole, swing flags don't... well, they do, but they're the height of the flag, so it seems almost as if there's no pole there. see if you can spot the difference on Monday, David. haha. I only memorized this because I was on floor crew last year, so I've been introduced to almost all the guard lingo. Quote
ddmwingz Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 i think i get it. so the pole is pretty much through the one end of the flag and thats it. it doesnt come outside the cloth Quote
borchnork Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 basically... I don't know how to explain it any better outside of just pointing it out. Just remember to look at the flags the guard uses in the 2nd mvmt. at practice on Monday! Quote
MaverickBand15 Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 i am not in guard....so i am clueless. I just know the basis of our props Quote
borchnork Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 yah, like I said, I was on floor crew last year, and I'm friends with captain, co captain and lieutenant, so I hear all the terms. Quote
lionbc Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 We're using flags, swing flags, and rifles. I think that's it (as far as I know). I think we've taken a brake since the barrels from Corners of the Mind and the giant doors from Door to Door (if anyone remembers those). We didn't have rifles last year and I don't think the two years before, so it's a good thing we're bringing them back, I personally like them. Quote
borchnork Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 well our guards show ends with a Triple rifle toss. yay! Quote

crazyjakeup Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 i can though a triple... accually i can through a pretty ugly 6 on riffle... my gf can through a beautiful 7 though( shh she is keeping it a secret though because she doesnt want the other girls to know) which makes me feel bad, but im not in guard so thats okay... i can also through a double on flag (karate-chop)... i gonna try-out for ars nova or black gold...jk...lol Quote
borchnork Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 lionbc said: Three people tossing, or people doing triples? I'm assuming triples. yah, just a triple. It's a big deal for us cus it's our first time it's ever been attempted at our school. =] Quote

We've had rifle lines before, but we haven't put them in shows the last three years (except three years ago, winterguard had it, but the show fell through and never really happened). Quote
borchnork Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 also the swing flags have styrofoam bells on them. yah... just more info. Quote
peterd08 Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Well, we are just using reg. equipment this year. Well, we do have turf props that we flip over on the feild throughout the show. I go to The Woodlands, btw. Quote
