ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 personally, i think the 56s are real easy to play (4s out of the box), but gimme a blue box over V12s any day. the other brands are too soft. Quote

SerialSleeper90 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I dunno. I like the V12s better. I've only tried the 56s once, but that was way back so I might try it again. Quote
Clarinot Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 V12's were reliable for me and plastic reeds... they sound terrible but pretty cool Quote

How does that work? what kind of soda, and how does it change the sound? *I'm a trumpet player, but this is kinda odd... yet interesting* Quote
C1Sherman2010 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I like blue box Vandoran 4's, but recently I have been playing on Ricatto Gold (NOT RICO) and they respond really nicely with I really good sound. Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I know they make pre-flavored reeds. My friends had some. BTW Never use it for marching especially under the hot sun. It would stick lol. Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I hate, despise, and detest the blue box. I just hate them because you can hardly ever find a reed that works, isn't too buzzy, or isn't too soft. I love Rue Lepics. I wish I could have them, but they're more expensive and I can't find a place to buy them in person,so I have to buy them online, which I hate. I use the "silver box" (V12s, I think) because I can't use Rue Lepics and they're better than the blue box, in my opinion Quote

Oboes have these cups of water, that attach to stands, to soak reeds in for quick changing out just in case, or between songs, etc. Since we were on the subject of flavored reeds...... no, soaking a clarinet reed in orange soda does not put a zing in your sound and should not be tested out, as the sugar would all go into your instrument and possibly damage it somehow. Brevity is the soul of wit. Quote
