itsstephenyo Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 The big names from this area are Dickinson and Friendswood. I'm not too familiar with any other bands. Quote
BDAZdrummer Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 friendswood has gotten 2nd place the last 2 state years dickinson has gone to state since practically the beginning of time Quote
Donezo Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 And then there is Nederland who came out of nowhere to be a state honor band finalist this year. Has anyone seen their marching show yet? Also of note is former state marching finalist Santa Fe. I think they've been the alternate to state from this area the past couple of times. This could be their year to return to state. Quote

KING FRIENDSWOOD GALENA PARK CENTRAL MEDICAL MAGNET PORT NECHES-GROVES CANEY CREEK LIVINGSTON OZEN CROSBY DAYTON WILLIS HARGRAVE yeah, friendswood is doing BOA and UIL. they came out 2nd at the LoneStar Contest in Conroe on the 13th for the 4A. So they are definite competition for Dickinson. Dickinson is doing great this year. They won best drumline and best band overall at the Katy Marching Festival and the Alief Marching Contest. At Alief, the drumline gog 494 points out of 500. Freaking badass. Just wanna get the word out that Dickinson is gonna let it rip this year at state, and anyone who has to say that we wont make it past Area is seriously senile. Amigo Wood is their biggest competition and also their biggest friend. Those two schools are going to take Area and make a splash at State. As for Brazosport and Texas City, I have seen their shows, and its nothing compared to the big boys. Im sure they do their best, but from what i've seen, they arent up to level for Area. Idk about Santa Fe. They try really hard I guess, but I havent seen them at any contests. I'll see them tomorrow night though at UIL Region. So we'll see who has the upper hand. Angleton isnt the most amazing either. It's just the same old cookie cutter routine, one after the other for a lot of those bands. Hope thats enough insight for ya. Quote
Donezo Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I'm not quite sure how to respond to that.........but keep in mind that Friendswood came in second in 4A at Lone Star to Hendrickson, who is probably the front runner to win the whole thing at this point in time. I really can't see Friendswood not advancing to state marching contest. I'm glad you have confidence in your band this year. Let the performance speak for itself at region and area. Quote

And I'd let your marching do the talking. That's a whole lot of smack to be said about some respectable programs. Quote
mbui Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I'll be at Region 17 tonight in Pearland. Should be fun. I haven't been to Region 17 since I graduated from high school in 2003. BDAZdrummer Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 ok im so sorry but my last post in this forum "area F 4A" was NOT posted by me and im extremely sorry if it offended any one Quote
Tx_Band_Marcher08 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I do agree that Dickinson has come a long way since last time we went to state. I think Area will have great competition with Friendswood and Santa Fe at our sides. As for Angleton and Texas city I wish them the best of luck on next years show. Good luck at Area and be prepared to show your stuff. Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Of course, I've heard of Friendswood and Dickinson. They advanced to state both 4A years I participated in and gave me goosebumps every time I heard them. If I remember correctly, my high school band even stayed after the game to watch Dickinson's show when we played them a couple of years ago. Anyway, it was really good, and I'm sure they're going to make it to the state competition yet again if they continue to be as great as they were two years ago and don't get pounced by Galena Park and yes, I've heard of Galena Park...my old high school played them in football and our the head band director from my school is now the assistant there. Anyway, they've gotten pretty good over the last couple of years..even better than some 5A bands in region 19. if they don't make it to the top this year, just wait until the next 4A year. OoHhH CE King, well, I haven't seen them much since my band was put into the 5A division, but I hear they got straight one's. Good job =] Quote
dtxtrmpt Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 right now we are wating on region 9 to compete on tuesday. if 2 bands make a 1, then area f will be taking 3 bands to state. Quote
Tx_Band_Marcher08 Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 People are saying LCM is pretty good but I'm not sure, just like you, I've never seen half of the ones that are going to be at Area. Quote
dtxtrmpt Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 the only bands that i know of are us(dickinson), friendswood, sante fe, and ive seen a video of galena park. so my predictions are pretty much random. Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Since when did region 9 enter Area F? Did I miss something last year during the region alignment? Quote
