rhhsband Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 So the bands I know of from Area C going to area are Highland Park, Midlothian (spelling?), Pearce, Forney, Poteet, Waxahachie and us (Rockwall-Heath). I know there's more, I just don't know who yet. Quote
Donezo Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Area C bands advancing so far: Region 3: Poteet J. J. Pearce Rockwall Heath Forney West Mesquite Region 4: Pine Tree North Lamar Sulpher Springs Region 20: Waxahachie Highland Park Midlothian Ennis Thomas Jefferson Region 21 goes on Saturday. Because each region is required to send two bands regardless of ratings, Area C will have enough bands for three to advance to state. I don't think there are even enough bands in Region 21 to up that count to four should they all make a first division (which they probably won't.) PS: I am absolutely ecstatic for West Mesquite!!! They haven't advanced to area in ages. I will definitely be at area supporting both MISD schools! Quote
MisterMan Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 What aboiut the Areas no one is talking about, Area A, E and G Quote

Becuase if it is, our director doesn't even know about it because he was telling our band today that we need to hope at least two Region 21 bands get ones so three bands advance to state. So if you're positive that it's true...then I should probably let him know.... P.S. I'm pretty sure there are six bands in Region 21, but yeah I don't see that many advancing. Quote
Donezo Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I am sure it is true. In fact, it has already been applied this season in Region 13: http://www.uil.utexas.edu/policy/constitut...8sec1105_07.pdf Quote (B.) In the event only one band, or no bands receive a Division I rating, two bands shall be selected by the judging panel for advancement to area. Quote

I told my director and he was really relieved. Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 The rule isn't THAT encouraging for us... cuz the smaller regions of area B are the ones with two of the 4a powerhouses... i.e. region 25 has sherman and region 24 has the colony. Plus boyd and centennial are in those regions. So pretty much for the sake of area B, more bands need to make it from region 7 and pretty much all of region 24 needs to make it. Quote
Fata1 Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Tomorrow's UIL. Time to start praying everyone. Quote

Josh08 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 For Area D Region 8 it's actually, Copperas Cove Killeen Midway and Waco Which should make Area D an advancement of 4 schools to state, assuming that Region 12 advances 4 schools to Area, crossing our fingers Quote
titancoaster Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Well *knock on wood* there should be atleast 5 bands making area from region 12 Seele, clemens, canyon, new braunsfels, and canyon and five really strong programs who shouldnt have too much trouble getting a 1. So now its just down to which 4 of the the "outstanding 6" will go to state (Connally, Dripping Springs, Hendrickson, Steele, New Braunsfels, and Canyon) Quote

Drillz Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I think Area B will take 4 bands to state, just because we currently have 18 bands going to Area and Region 5 still hasn't performed yet. Also because there are so many good bands in that Area! Quote
Donezo Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Thanks for the heads up on Killeen. And Drillz, you are right about 4 bands from Area B. I forgot to fix that last night. I still haven't heard anything from Regions 11, 14, or 28. Any word? Here is the tentative prelims schedule for Area C: 12:00 Waxahachie 12:15 West Mesquite 12:30 Poteet 12:45 Sulphur Springs 1:00 Thomas Jefferson 1:15 North Lamar 1:30 BREAK 2:00 Henderson 2:15 Jacksonville 2:30 Lindale 2:45 Highland Park 3:00 Pine Tree 3:15 BREAK 3:30 Rockwall Heath 3:45 Ennis 4:00 Midlothian 4:15 J. J. Pearce 4:30 Forney 4:45 Tyler Junior College Exhibition 5:00 Announcement of Finalists 7:45 Finals Begin 9:15 TCU Exhibition 9:30 Announcement of Results Quote
ddmwingz Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Area B WILL be taking 4 bands to state. As drillz said, 18 bands have made it so far, and every region advances at least 2 bands to area no matter what. Since area B has one more region to go, 4 advancing spots are guaranteed Quote
Donezo Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Well, all the bands who marched yesterday have until tomorrow to withdraw from area competition. Three bands from Region 21 have already done that. I don't see that happening with any of the Area B bands, but it is possible, which is why I said Area B will *probably* advance 4 bands. Quote
longhornsax Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Actually, you're missing Marble Falls in Region 26, Area D, so there's pretty much no doubt that Area D will be advancing 4 Quote
