I feel for yall at Southwest, its a shame the uil judges didn't let a good band advance. Good luck to Centennial and the rest of Area B in the contest on Saturday, I have a feeling it is going to be a long day... Anybody know what area Azle and Saginaw are in? They beat both Seguin and Birdville at our contest. Oh yeah, I forgot about finals. Anyway, thanks. One judge wanted us to have another chance. One judge thought we were pretty good and that our show had a lot of potential but still gave us a two. It was impossible to tell that he was going to give us a two throughout the entire tape until the last sentence, "Really good but I had expected more out of Southwest High School." The last judge was smoking something during our performance. He was telling us to tune base drums in the middle of a keyboard solo. He also thought some of our dissonant parts were wrong notes. Oh well, the two brings us back down to reality. It'll make us work harder next season. Hopefully. As for Azle and Saginaw. I don't know what Area, but I do know they're good. I think Saginaw can make a serious run at State finals. Quote
Donezo Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Saginaw and Azle are in Area A. Saginaw seems to have come out of nowhere, but I really think they're going to make it to state this year, especially since Area A has 4 slots. Quote
Tx_Band_Marcher08 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I don't think the results for region 9 will pop up anytime soon chris. We might as well just go to bed and await for the news from jakubas or mac. Quote

Donezo Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Region 9 4A: Caney Creek - 2 Huntsville - 1 Montgomery- 1 Willis - 1 Looks like Area F is taking 3 bands...... Quote
dtxtrmpt Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 im excited now! wow. in 2005 we only had 12 bands at area, now we are going to have 16. Quote
Tx_Band_Marcher08 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I can't wait until saturday, for Area F's area competition. It's going to be kick A$$! =] Quote
QuadraticBeats Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 For the most part, I will simply state this about predicting who will go on... wait and see. Oh, another thing - they should really, really consider applying basic rounding skills to UIL state advancement policies. Quote

Nineteen bands would be too close to twenty for only three to advance. Quote
Donezo Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Bad news for Area C. Pine Tree has pulled out so only 2 bands will advance. I have no idea why all the military bands are revolting against UIL but this is ridiculous. 19 bands in this area made a first division, but now only two advance to state........ Quote

Yeah our band was a little upset today...I don't like the way the number of bands going to state is decided...They need to rethink their logic and create a better way. Quote

Tx_Band_Marcher08 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Does anyone know why Nederland isn't on the Area F area schedule? Quote
Fata1 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 That really sucks about Area C. On another note, if anyone wants to name the number of bands advancing from each Area and the top bands from each area. I would do this myself but I've got too much homework and not enough time. Quote

They aren't coming, which seems to be the case with a lot of military bands in the state. I'm disappointed we won't get to see them though. It would have been interesting to see them march after they made Honor Band finals. Quote
borchnork Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I wish Pine Tree was going to Area. Maybe it's a mass boycott? Quote
