Aegis Fang Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Now that two weeks of competition has come and gone, who are the big surprises? Who's really stood out this year? Quote
Fata1 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Sherman? I think they seem to be doing really well this year. Aledo's doing really well also. Quote
Drillz Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Yeah we (Sherman) have beaten Poteet once and they have also beaten us once in these past two weeks! I guess we'll have to wait and see at the 2007 Marching Band All-State Competition who the better band this year really is, and finally this rivalry will come to an end. Quote
Aegis Fang Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 wow, I leave, come back... and everyone's died.... where'd everyone go? Quote

Who's really stood out this year? as far as recently published scores and rankings from competitions, I would say the biggest surprise hands down is the strength with which two year program Cibolo Steele has burst onto the scene. Skunking 3 time Area E Champion and perennial SMBC and TMEA Honor Band finalist New Braunfels is no easy feat, and to do it so convincingly at the most recent USSBA Centex regional speaks volumes about the quality of the program. Steele will be the dark horse group at the highly competitive Area D competition. Both Hendrickson and Dripping Springs have been behemoths at their most recent comps and are also frontrunners for a 4A SMBC berth. Quote
