Food for thought:

Since 1999, The Cavaliers have won the World Championship the years after not winning it.

1999: 3rd Place

2000: Co-World Champions

2003: 2nd Place

2004: World Champions

2005: 2nd Place

2006: World Champions.

One more thing. The Cavaliers 2008 Show: SAMURAI

With a show title like that, I would much rather give The Cavaliers the World Championship for fear that they would thrust a broadsword into my stomach as they march off with it on Saturday night.

Samurais don't use broadswords. They use katanas.

Translation: Haha. You gots teh pwn. I think.

Anyway, there's no reason to count the Cavs out yet. They won 2006 and had an off year in 2007. They'll come back fighting in 2008. Fighting with swords.

The Machine isn't rusty yet.

Nonetheless, I doubt a return to an era of absolute domination... they haven't won by more than a point since 2002. In fact, it's been either losing by more than a point or winning by quite a bit less than one in the past five seasons.

I can't beleive this is a thread!

There's no way that the cavies' are going away ANY TIME SOON.

If you think about the last 5 years, there's no way that name blows over.

Yeah, for those of you worried that the Cavaliers are done...stop. That's like saying that the New England Patriots were finished last year since they didn't go to the Super Bowl.

Three reasons why you shouldn't worry

1. No major staff changes.

2. Rumor has it that some of the drumline is going to SCV now that Murray's back, but the hornline is still strong, and noone has really left the orgnization.

3. It's the CAVALIERS! They've been the strongest corps of the decade, not placing out of the top five in YEARS! Just because they didn't win 1st or 2nd doesn't mean they're done!

So as a snare rookie at troop do you usually get a lot of intel about the cavies brass line? lol. I think DCI is going to be great this year. Everyone has been stepping up, and it's going to be interesting to see how the corps world folds out.

My head hurts just thinking about this thread.

So they got 3rd. Big freaking deal. Just because they were out of the top 2 for the first time doesn't mean that they're going to just up and disappear. Look at their late 70's/early 80's results. Bottom half from 1972 to 1985. They weren't the greatest back then, but boy, did they put out some entertaining shows.

Also, they've been around for 50 years. They're not going anywhere.

If ands and buts about the Cavies dying anytime soon

IF...

The cavies come out and crap all over the field... they might get 4th or 5th, then medal next year

AND...

If two other corps come out and just castrate every one... the cavies'll get third (*cough* 1989?), then clean up next year

BUT...

If everyone feilds a decent show the cavies'll be top three (most likely two), and there will be no doubt they still got it.

Long term....

If you think the cavies will ever die... go take a shop class they'll teach you," a machine never dies, It just shudders till someone gives it a good kick."

I know what school you go to. ^_^

But, from reading the first couple posts and original post. My take on what the topic starter was saying is that the Dynasty dying is them not winning for a long time. I think everyone knows the Cavaliers arent going to up and fall to the bottom. They are a great corps.
