Band Of Champions Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 How's everyone coming on their etudes? Anyone have smaller competitions such as All-City, All-Region, or All-District coming up soon? Quote
Fata1 Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 My etudes have been coming good. I've stepped up the practicing a lot this year. I hardly practiced last year and now I practice about an hour and a half after school and band rehearsal everyday. All-District is on the 27th of November for us. Region is on December 3rd and 8th. I'd like to make State this year but they only take 2 French Horns for 4A. Quote

JustAddWat3r Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 anyone have any tips for the saxophone etudes? Quote
chickora Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I'm coming along real good on the clarinet etudes. I hope to make Area, but I'll be satisfied with All Region WE Quote
MaverickBand15 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 All the percussion pieces this year are really contemporary and jazzy. They are all easier in my opinion. I think the timpani is the hardest out of them all. Quote

ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 i need to get mine up to tempo. right now, my first etude is around 7-10 under tempo, the second one is about 20 under my target tempo which is about 10 over the recommended tempo, and the slow one is done save two measures of weird rhythm that i can't get my mind around for some odd reason. Drillz Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 My Bass Clarinet music is coming together and should be ready by All-Region Ph.1 on Dec. 1st. I'm working really hard this year to make the All-State Band. Last year I missed it by 2 chairs. Quote
t3hZm4n Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 My music is coming along pretty well (tenor trombone). I'm really worried about this year though, since the music is so easy that it's proably going to be a lot more difficult for me to make state than it was last year, since more people will be able to sound decent on easy music, and it's a lot harder to judge musicality than it is to judge how many notes a player missed... Oh well, we'll see Quote

borchnork Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 yah, I'm just having tempo problems now, and I also practice my music in sections, so now I need to work on being able to loop the sections together without having to take long extended breaks. Quote
