borchnork Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 wait, both wakeland and frisco are going... but the city of frisco has a parade today. So will we not be seeing those bands there? Quote
the terminator Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 look at the time my friend borchnork, Frisco has a little time trouble at 3:30ish but we are at night b/c we are marching and not this silly standstill stuff that everyone else is doing, it's all part of getting ready for next year in 4A b/c if haven't notice in marching w/exception of Plano NV schools of Jasper and Vines all pretty good 4A and 5A schools Quote
borchnork Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 yah sorry. I noticed that when I got to the parade and saw FHS and WHS there. Quote
borchnork Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 So is this not JUST a drumline contest, but an actual marching contest as well? Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 this competition confuses me. What's a standstill? And What's Marcus Redline? And holy crap why is this competition so packed? Quote
Xenon Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 This is a drumline competition which has two different types of classes, Standstill and Marching. Standstill means that the battery and pit from a band stand still and perform a show. Normally, this show is based on that year's Marching Band show. Marching means that the battery marches around while they and the pit perform a show. This is sometimes a unique show not based on the Marching Band show. Marcus has two drumlines, Red Line and Silver Line. The Silver Line is their elite line. Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 wow... thats so cool. I wish I could go. Quote

Steeldrum Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I was at this contest and saw many of the drumlines. Colleyville was amazing. Great show concept and unbelievably clean snare and tenor line. Even more amazing when you consider they march 8 snares. I actually thought that this line was better than FM Marcus (exhibition), though Marcus' show had a more complex drill and probably more difficult music. From the standstill class Round Rock rocked, sweeping all but one category, if I remember correctly. 1st - Round Rock 2nd - Georgetown 3rd - Coppell Best Pit - Round Rock Best Tenor Line - Round Rock Best Cymbal Line - Round Rock Best Snare Line - Coppell Best Bass Line - Round Rock Quote

They did compete right? I think everyone one who participated was listed but you added Paschal and took out FR. Quote
GenericWit Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Oh, I'm so bummed I didn't get to go. I went last year, and I really enjoyed myself. Quote

urkadrums Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Congrats to Round Rock. Yeah we won last year, but we seriously doubted we would do it again. We didn't expect to get any captions, because we were the smallest 5A drumline there (4 snares, 4 basses, 2 tenors, 4 cyms) But I'm glad we did as well as we did, even with all the complications we had. We played a good show, and exceeded our director's expectations for our rookie heavy line, and I couldn't be happier. Quote
takigan Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Standstill Div I: http://www.marcusdrumline.org/documents/lo...on%201-2007.xls 26 lines! And Round Rock smoked 'em! Congratulations to Georgetown and Leander as well, Area D Lines represent! (actually I'm not and never was in drumline, so now I feel kinda dumb...hehe)....congratulations to all! Quote
ftwdrummer Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 don't know what happened w/fossil ridge...speaking as a member of the paschal line, we signed up for marching, and they put us in the wrong category to start with (that got fixed...finally). anyone have thoughts on our show? Quote
the terminator Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 sorry we missed you guys, but I know that our guard instructor Mr.Kichline came from Paschal Quote
