borchnork Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 So I was just curious to see how many other people out there were ocd, and what your tendencies are. I love it when my parents try to get me to break some of my habits and they just don't understand that it's practically impossible for me not to do everything the way I do it. I'm o.c.d. about even numbers (a long list of specific examples...) and about how to take dishes out of the cupboards to be used and where certain objects have to be in my room before I can fall asleep each night. yah, that's just a few of them. how bout you?! drippin_tuba2010 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I dunno about OCD but I start freaking out when I'm 2 or 3 minutes late to morning band. I NEED my liscence! I spelled that wrong... oh well Quote
Fata1 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I have this annoying things with numbers. If I'm asked to choose a random number, I can never choose a number like 222, 246, 369, 123, 456, or stuff like that. My favorite number is 472 because there really isn't an obvious pattern or anything to it. I can't stand next to a microwave while it's running. I can't sleep if my bathroom door is open. I have others but these are the one's I can think of now. Quote

Me too, I am not really OCD I just don't like to sleep with my closet door open...But on MTV there was this show True Life: I have OCD and there was this girl that had to land on a crack while walking to the front door of her house in exactly 8 steps I think it was or she would turn around and do it again...and another girl had to have the light switches a certain way in her bathroom and if she didn't do it she would think her mom would die...It brought some insight on how big of an issue it can be... borchnork Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 I actually had a panic attack and cried once because I accidentally messed up something I'm very ocd about, which is the way I walk (even number of steps per square of cement, always starting on the left foot in each new square). That's when I ended up being diagnosed with it. Quote
itsstephenyo Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Haha, I don't think I have OCD, but I do a lot of the things listed in here. Whenever I walk on a sidewalk, I try to walk to where I alternate my left and right foot hitting a crack. So kinda like "left (crack) right, left, right, left, right (crack)" But if I miss it, eh, no big deal. My doors have to be open. I don't know, I like everything wide open. If someone misspells a word, I gotta fix 'em. If you use good when you're supposed to use well, I have to fix you. That's just me being a grammar nut, though. But I definitely don't have OCD. If I don't do one of these, it's no big deal, really. Except the good/well thing. I HAVE to fix that. No choice. Quote
borchnork Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 *cough*GrammarNazi*cough* it's ok. I'm one too. Usually at least... Quote

borchnork Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 you know what's fun? getting a group of OCD people together to organize a space. Since each person has their own tendencies, things tend to go haywire. =] Quote

Oh yea, another thing that bothers me is when a professor fails to erase dots and lines on the board. I usually want to punch them, but I'm sure that'll earn me a straight F. Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Haha so this topic reminds me of something my AP Music THeory teacher told me. He said in his college music theory class (i think) the teacher would begin the day by playing the C major scale from C to the B. So pretty much he stops at the leading tone and it drives the entire class crazy. On exam day one student finished early and when he turned in his exam he went up to the piano and played the final the C and left class. I thought that was a pretty funny story. Quote

I remember one of my directors telling us a story like that. Our head director is similar sometimes. Our traditional warm up is playing the Bb up F and back down in quarter notes followed by a whole note. Sometimes our director will stop us in the middle of the warm up to talk to us about our playing. It drives me nuts. Edited November 20, 2007 by Fata1 Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 everything must be squeaky clean. music notes should be within a good range of "in-tune" people should not yawn without covering their mouths Quote
urkadrums Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 i use to be really OCD and like, whatever i did with my left hand, i had to with my right hand. (example: if i tapped my left hand 3 times, i had to tap my right hand 3 times or i felt unbalanced) but i forced myself to stop. now i just like things to be even, and when i need to call someone and its like 2:56, i wait til 3:00. stuff like that. txsweetheart183 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 i have to know how many ceiling tiles there are in a room before i can sit comfortably in it. Quote
borchnork Posted November 27, 2007 Author Posted November 27, 2007 wow, that's pretty different. I've once estimated the number of dots on all the ceiling tiles in the room I was in. It came out to some ridiculously large number that made me wonder why I even bothered to waste my time. Quote
