itsstephenyo Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 GN Semi-finals are juuust about over. I'll try and update this thread whenever they call out something good for the Semi awards. Quote
Donezo Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I have no idea why I am so emotionally invested in this contest, but I am. Everyone at the MFA forum seems to think Reagan is out and Richland is on the border. Let's cross our fingers that they both make it (and it would be awesome if Clear Brook could sneak in too.) Quote
itsstephenyo Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) Yea, personally, I don't think Reagan made it either. But *crosses fingers, toes, whatever!* Stupid exhibition band... Let's just get on with the announcements!!! Alright! UMass is done and some random dude is trying to hype the audience. I think it's UMass' director. Oh, what the crap?!?! They're not done. Fooled me. Edited November 17, 2007 by itsstephenyo Quote
Donezo Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 K, seriously UMass? I have a paper to type and I can't focus until I hear semis results, so the sooner we get this over with, the better. You guys can play *after* the results. Quote

I've got four exams, a 3 page paper, a 10 page paper, and oodles of homework to do before Monday. HURRY UP, DARNIT!!! GEEZ, THEY DON'T STOP. Quote
itsstephenyo Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 Crap, something just came up, personally. Not gonna be able to update these things. Someone else do it. You, donezo, I choose you! Please??? Quote
Fata1 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Thank God for Thanksgiving break. I have no homework this week. UMass is finally done too, it seems. I watched an entire Scrubs episode during their performance. Quote

who_knows Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Congratulations to L.D. Bell, The Woodlands, SFA and Richland...you guys rocked today and go get'm in finals and bring the Eagle back to Texas!!! Quote
takigan Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) 4 Texas bands, 4 Indiana bands, 1 Oklahoma band, 1 Michigan Band, 1 Georgia band, 1 Illinois band. Texas yet again puts the highest percentage of their attending bands in finals! EDIT: Well.....minus the state's that only sent one band. Texas sent 7 and Indiana sent 14 : / . Edited November 17, 2007 by takigan Quote
GuitarJoe Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Not sure I agree with Carmel in 3rd, but I'll definitely take Bell in 1st. Quote
Donezo Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Performance order (according to Danpod on the live blog): Center Grove L.D. Bell Richland Marian Catholic Avon Plymouth-Canton Lawrence Central The Woodlands Broken Arrow Stephen F. Austin Harrison Carmel Oh dear. L.D. Bell performing second (and way far away from Carmel and Broken Arrow) is giving me anxiety. Quote
radchad Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Yeah. I had Carmel 7th. LD Bell was definitely first. I think If the Woodlands clean just a bit, they could make top 5 easily. Quote
Danpod Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 L.D. Bell has a TERRIFIC spot, believe it or not. They get to set the bar for the rest of Finals and they don't have to do it immediately out of the gate. Quote
Donezo Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) So I just realized that L.D. Bell is the third consecutive Class AAA Champion to come from Texas. Let's hope they can translate that into an Eagle unlike Reagan and The Woodlands before them....... I really want to believe you Danpod. At least they aren't going first (which is what probably killed Reagan and The Woodlands in their recent finals appearances.) There is just too much time between Bell and those other two bands I mentioned. That muddies the waters. Let's not forget that BA jumped from 4-1 last year. It could happen again. GuitarJoe Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Last band to win semis and finals... Westfield in 2003. Quote

I believe in Karma. The third time HAS to be the charm for the State of Texas. I still believe in Santa Claus and I STILL BELIEVE IN THIS!!!!!!! *runs to my room and slams the door* Quote
oDesign Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I heard Avon has music from Eric Whitacre's "Equus"? Is that true? Quote

I believe most of their stuff is from Verdi's Requiem. They did "Equus" in 2005. And to answer lustra.exe's question, GN finals order is a totally random draw like Super-Regional.
