borchnork Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 they probably need it to be honest with you. I don't wanna put down my old high school, especially not the guard, cus they're my fav., but this year is big handicap year for them. We have about 40 registered girls, only 5 of which are returning members... Quote
treblemaker Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Well we only have like 10-15 guard at all and only like 4 returning people and only 1 that has been there all 4 years. Quote

whitewing09 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Our color guard is full of cheerleaders haha, including the captains, hopefully they'll be able to pull of some hard work and be awesome. Quote

They would never let cheerleaders do colorguard. but i bet that is an interesting guard! Quote

borchnork Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 We had a girl on the varsity squad quit for winter guard and she permanently left the squad for full year guard this year. Quote
whitewing09 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 One of the problems with going to a 3A, everyone does everything Quote
treyj Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 whitewing09 said: One of the problems with going to a 3A, everyone does everything yeah i've always thought that was really cool though. because me entering my freshman year ( i am now a senior) had to choose between tennis and band. i chose band of course. and of course dont regret it, but just saying it is a tough decision. and a price to pay for being 5A i guess Quote
whitewing09 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 It's really fun being in 4 different things, but it stinks when you have to choose between them. It gets really awkward lol Quote
treyj Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 So I was at work today (target) talking and helping my manager load this couch into a ladies car, and he says "man I sure feel sorry for those football camps starting up next week, it's way too hot for them to be out there, they work so hard." to which i replied "yeah i feel bad for them, but I really feel bad for all the marching bands (explaining that it was a state year and camp was 8am-8pm everyday) He had the nerve to laugh at me. He said band does nothing and we just stand around out there. I don't know but it kind of pissed me off you know? Everyone just thinks marching band is so easy, but in reality it isn't and takes tons of strength and stamina. Nobody realizes how hard we work and suffer to be great. I don't know just thought i would share that! go marching band! Quote
whitewing09 Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 That's so true! People shouldn't knock it until they try it. People don't realize that it takes more than two brains cells to play, marching, get the formations to be perfect, etc. Yes, it does get friggen hot for us too! Quote
treblemaker Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Haha. Shouldn't we all be used to the population's ignorance? Quote
crazyjakeup Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 read my post in gen-off topic about this... Quote
whitewing09 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 We all know your opinion about marching, but you shouldn't just look at the physical aspects. Quote

The whole band thing is like one big bubble and people in the bubble have no idea what goes on, or what it's like. I don't want your boss to know what it's like to be in marching band! This is what makes what we do so unique. Nobody really knows. And I enjoy that part of it. Quote
