DouglasBuerk13 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Anyone else. Am I the only one? Without marching season... I have a life. I MISS MARCHING SEASON.. Quote
drumajorfernando Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I miss it because I was the Drum Major. And now, I'm not even in Band. Lol. =]. Quote
actualgirltrombone Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I miss it, but only because i'm a hopeless nerd. Quote
borchnork Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I don't know... this sounds harsh, but I think I'm liking life much better now that marching season is over. One of my classes was just physically impossible with marching season acting as a giant barrier, and now that it's gone, I can concentrate on that class and excel to the level I want to be at. That's the same story with all my classes, my grades have skyrocketed now after marching's end. And now I have a job and can actually buy stuff that I want instead of just wishing I had it. And I can also practice for college auditions. AND! I can get more than 3 hours of sleep a day! I do miss seeing my friends on a regular basis though. =[ I also miss contests and seeing other marching shows. =[ Quote
sax5warrior Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Are you kidding me? This marching season was a disaster, full of stupid 50 year olds having drama. I am glad this marching season is over. It seems everyone Ive talked to in other cities feel the same way too. eh. just venting i guess. Quote
Xenon Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 The end of marching season is always a huge relief for me and my schedule, but I always miss it dearly and can't wait for it to come around again. But concert season has started up and I'll be trying to keep up with all of the honor band stuff going on at the end of the school year. Quote
Fata1 Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I don't miss it much. Marching season was miserable this year. I prefer concert season anyhow. I'm still looking forward to marching season next year though. Quote
ftwdrummer Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Definitely miss it...I really miss dragging the pit equipment three blocks to the field and back uphill both ways on flat tires daily...need the exercise. Quote

Adagio for Strings (Samuel Barber) Medea (Samuel Barber) Grohg (Aaron Copland) That's neat. Same exact repertoire that Stephen F. Austin did in 2005. SFA's show was entitled, "Dance Symphony", and they opened with Grohg, Adagio for Strings as the ballad, and Medea as the closer. Quote

Now I have the time I need. 'Cause let's face it, unless I'm gonna become a professional marcher for the rest of my life, lol, I need the time and clearness of mind to develop other areas of my life that I will need in the future. See ya marching band! You took me on so many adventure I'll never forget! I'll be cheering from the stands for everybody next year! =) Quote
mbui Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 As a spectator, this was probably the busiest fall season for me since graduating from high school five years ago. I miss marching season but certainly not the traveling. BOA Houston - October 6th Laredo Marching Festival - October 13th UIL Region 17 (Pearland) - October 16th UIL Region 27 (Cypress) - October 20th UIL Region 9 (Conroe) - October 23rd USSBA Texas State (Pearland) - October 27th BOA San Antonio - November 2nd-3rd BOA Grand Nationals (Indianapolis, Indiana) - November 15th-17th Physically exhausting at times but well worth it in the end. treblemaker Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Gosh.. I can't wait for marching season to start again. It's the reason I stay in band. I hate sitting in a chair for an hour and a half everyday. As for my grades I have more time to procrastinate so my grades seem to slip a bit when I'm not in a crunch between sleep and marching. Haha. I always seem to get in trouble in transition between marching and concert I've already been called into my directors office, I think 4 times? I seem to lose count sometimes. I am just too opinionated I guess. Haha. Anyhoooo... I live marching season and that's all that matters. :] Quote
Nancy08 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I don't really miss marching season, but it's not like I hate it or anything. I love the competitions and games, but now I have more time to work on all the concert music I have to learn. Plus the repitoire for bassoon isn't that great during marching season . Quote

It's because Bassoons aren't BAMF enough to march.. You got a solo this year anyway so why you complaining? Quote
Trumpet of Doom Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I try not to miss it too much as I still have loads of fun with my band in concert season. The only thing i'm sad about is that I have one marching season left. :-( Quote
treblemaker Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 By my calculation only 4 more months until the start of marching band. Mmmm. I'm excited. Quote

dmbalash Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 <--- Feebly points over to avatar. Watching/listening to Vanguard always cheers me up. No marching band could do that. Man I wish we could have avatars on the BOA forums.... Quote
