I'll probably be there on Saturday. If you find me, I'll buy you guys a funnel cake or something.

Dang Valdez, you buy everyone something for nothing. First it was the powerade for the Churchill band at GN in 2006, then there was the chick-fil-a & sweet tea party for the Hendrickson band in 2007, now funnel cakes for anyone that attends TMEA?

If I see you there, I expect a funnel cake, and I'm not playing either.

so i just came back from the convention tonight...amazing jobs by call the state bands! The 5A symphonic band had one of THE MOST strongest performances yet...it was really SOLID, the 5a concert band had me at Give Us This Day...(Andy...you gotta get me a recording!) 4a band did very well, especially with their Mackey piece, their program was one of their strongest since 2006...and of course...symphony orchestra was AMAZING with their rendition of Mahler 1, the F Horns were one of the highlights of the evening, very strong and solid group this year.

Did anyone else check out the Marcus percussion ensemble? It was pretty unreal.

It always is. And after seeing Downing MS (Marcus feeder) and their percussion group last year, I can see why.

My friend (the alto sax player who sits next to me and made it to state) got John Mackey's autograph on his all state patch.

I'm jealous. =[

So lucky. So, so lucky.

I got him to autograph my copy of "Turning" right above his name.
