MaverickBand15 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 o we played the Firebird for Full Orchestra UIL this year. It's a really kool piece. I have no idea what McNeil's is going to be...i know Round Rock has announced theirs, but idk if their directors would appreciated it being posted so i wont. Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I think they're playing Meehan's "Pulse" Opener = "Movement 1" Movement 2 = "Movement 2" Closer ="Movement 3" not sure what to think of the music...I've only heard a small bit of the closer. interesting names though...haha Quote
b_sax_agent Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I think we're playing slalom by Carter Pann Quote
crazyjakeup Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 rowlett is doing a high school musical show... Quote
the terminator Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 wow, just listened to all of the music put together and it's amazing I love it, we just need to cut it down by a minute, and put together a show and we'll be ready. Man, I can't believe we already know our show for next year, it's pretty sweet, and it's going to be fun next year as a senior Quote
crazyjakeup Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 lol... i was just kidding. i heard the show rowlett will do next year, and i wet myself... im not quite sure how they will pull it off though... its crazy though... if they do it right they should turn some heads... but i have my doubts... Quote
borchnork Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I've heard rumors about the theme for Marcus' show, but I won't say anything about it. But if it is what I hear, then I'm pretty freaking excited about it. We just got an email out about prop making for our show for next year... I think it starts over spring break. We have our new 18-Wheeler for next year, so we'll see... Quote

Liquid Midget Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Dripping Springs is doing a show based on the artistic renaissance in France. We are doing 3 movements based on 3 different types of art. First cubism, second impressionism, and third dadaism. For the 1st movement we are playing part of "The Rite Of Spring". The 2nd movement will be a Bjork instrumental that the Cadets used in 05'. And for the 3rd movement we are doing a song used in the 88' Velvet Knights show. Then in the Fourth movement its going to be a recap of the previous three movements and throughout the entire show we are going to quote a couple of French folk songs. Ex: the can can. Tis going to be sweet. Quote

Nice u guys are getting an 18 wheeler I'm hoping we will, b/c there is no room in there and adding as many as we are for next year I don't even know what's going to happen. Hey, we're going to have 180 next year, how about u guys? Quote
b_sax_agent Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 130. We always are the smallest 5A bandthat makes finals ( at least in BOA events...) Quote
borchnork Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Uhm... I honestly don't know. lol. We are losing our largest senior class so far, which I think there's roughly 40 or so of us. But from my understanding there's about 150 8th graders TOTAL. I'm not sure how many of them are actually going to stay in band. I'm going to guess we'll be around 150-180 next year. Our two middle schools have upped the number of band kids though to where it looks like in about three or so years there's going to be about 300 incoming 8th graders!!! Quote
b_sax_agent Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 our senior and freshmen classes are small this year. We are getting a ton of 8th graders.....and some of them are really really good (supposedly...) although our freshmen class (or the woodwinds-the brass suck except for like 2 people-both girls) are really good. Quote
the terminator Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Dang, u guys at Richland are beasts considering marching w/ so few numbers great job to u, for us we're trying to get everyone in middle school to do band, and actually the numbers are going up Quote
b_sax_agent Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 awww thank you We really have a great community and staff, so all the credit doesn't go to us. Quote
treblemaker Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Our show information is kept secret until the end of May because kids can't keep their mouths shut. "] I think it builds tension and makes it that more exciting when we actually do find out. "] Quote
