thePIXELelement Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) Our band directors don't like for us to tell what our show is about either... Edited May 14, 2008 by thePIXELelement Quote

Waiting to announce a show as late as August, which some bands do, is just crazy. I have never understood the whole "I'm not going to say what our show is because it's a surprise." I have always let the performance speak for itself. I would rather be hyped after watching a show that wasn't hyped up, rather than be hyped about a show that was supposed to be a surprise and then be let down after the performance. Quote
Xenon Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Unless you are LD Bell and significantly change your show a number of times throughout the season. By the end of 2007 they had completely removed Engulfed Cathedral from the show! Quote

It's happened before. Many a time in all programs. I would probably do the same to keep from seeing the exact same concept on the field at a competition. Quote
Fata1 Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 We're almost definitely doing something by Key Poulan. Quite possibly Medusa but it's not set in stone. Quote
AzNtRoMbOnEcHiCk Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 haha. lets say smith's show is gonna be . . interesting. and this year, we're going to the birdville's contest. Quote
borchnork Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Rumors about our marching show are starting to circulate... It's interesting what I'm hearing, but I'm going to keep them to myself for now until I have a confirmation about them. Let's just say, they really really really really have me excited, and I'm not even going to be there next year. =] Quote
yesac519 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 James Bowie. As far as we know, our show is called Bells Kinda funny that's the name of friscos '07 show. But the musical arrangement is amazing. Should be a tight senior year. Macys here we come! Quote

As long as we do it better than last marching season. Our arrangement was a complete disaster to begin with. Quote

If it's "Bells For Stokowski" I think that makes it three years in a row that "Bells" gets performed on a marching field... first Rowlett I think, then us and then James Bowie. Quote

Richland also did parts of Michael Daugherty's Bells for Stokowski in 2005. Quote
oDesign Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 If the rumors are true, our show (langham's) is called "Masquerade." I think the music is going to be all bartok, arranged by key poulan i assume. New drill writer though, and out of our three band directors, two of them will be new. Quote
titancoaster Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 We played the opener for the first time today, and it was AMAZING, it is definantly some of the best music we have played. I am sooooooooo excited! Quote
Turtle09 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I am mad because i have to move from marching Trumpet to the pit for this following season due to knee injuries Quote
crazyjakeup Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 yeah pit does stink.jk... one of the new DMs let me get a hold of rowletts music(the last draft of it before they pass it out to the students), i havent listened to it yet because one of the guard directors took it out of my car to write weapon work... Quote
b_sax_agent Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Bells for Stowkowski.... I hated playing that piece. I worked ferouciously on it, then I was moved to conductor. That slightly irritated me... Quote

the terminator Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 we played the first 2 parts today, it's awesome Quote
borchnork Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 So I went to our guard clinic for next years girls. There were I think 40 girls signed up!!! Only like 5 returning girls, but there are one or two future freshmen that have quite a lot of potential. Sadly though, our luck always leaves us with less than half the girls in guard at the end of marching season that originally signed up. I'm thinking we'll have about 15-20 girls next year. Quote
the terminator Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 we're having about 30, so I'm really excited, and our show is really starting to come together, can't wait Quote
marcomac29 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 apparently... we're going to birdville marching contest? i just realized that. who else is going? (i think it's to early to start a topic for it in the future contest section [but if someone else wants to be my guest]) Quote
