How does that work (I've heard the possible opener, but that's it. It's all still rumor)? Montoya, you haven't been double-dealing now, hmm? XD I've got the name of the show, the colorguard outfit design, and an idea of what it's going to be. As far as what music we'll have... I'd kind of like to know. Quote

Trumpet Master Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I have heard an interesting bit regarding Churchill's show next year. Let's just say I cannot wait until the season starts to hear it. Quote

JediSaxSolis Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That Super Regional at San Antonio in 2007 was probably the MOST competitive marching contest I had ever been a part of (very close with UIL 5A State Marching). All the bands I saw were exceptionally well prepared and, in my opinion, totally blew any recent contest away. We aren't competing in the Super Regional this year since we're going to be aiming mainly at UIL... is there a tentative listing of the bands participating in the SA Super Regional already? This next marching season is guaranteed not to disappoint... can't wait! Personally, I'm looking forward to see what Bowie has in store. I've always thought their drill was really precise, accurate, and original; not to mention well charted. I don't think Coppell is given enough credit, either. Really looking forward to seeing their performance. Quote
AzNtRoMbOnEcHiCk Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 due to unseen circumstances, we have a new show noww! Our theme is "Music of Cirque du Soleil." Quote
MaverickBand15 Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I just know Daniel Montoya Jr. did an amazing job writing McNeil's show this year. In my opinion its the best one we have ever had! Quote

Only Ronald Reagan 2001 & 2002 were Cirque du Soleil shows. Amazing ones too. 2000 was "Perpetual Motion" (their first competitive year) and it contained music from Karel Husa, Philip Sparke & Mark Higginbotham. Quote

Or, are you guys going to sign up for BOA Arlington instead? If not, that means that this will be the first year that Richland won't be at a BOA competition since the band started competing in the circuit in 1996. Quote
b_sax_agent Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 yeah...no BOA this year. HEB, UIL, and Duncanville contest I think. oh well. To be honest, I think it's easier if we don't go to a BOA contest becuase we won't have to work as hard to satisfy both a UIL judging panel and a BOA judging panel. Quote

Cool. What are the musical selections? And, who is your drill designer again this year? Quote
borchnork Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I heard a bunch of different bands marching shows after talking to a drum major coming back from her dm camp. I'm jealous of Sachse's show, again, I must say. It's based on the TAKS test and is basically like a subject test in 4 parts. Sure, not every kid wants to see the TAKS more than they have too, but god, that's such an interesting and unique show to do. Quote

TRUMPet Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Quote Music of Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland. Cool. What are the musical selections? And, who is your drill designer again this year? I dont recall the name but its from the vanguard drill writer..... looks a heck of a lot like an SCV show too which is amazing Grogh (from SCV '98) Adagio for strings (from SCV '00) Medea (anyone know what show ths ones from, i havent found it yet) Quote

Barber's "Medea" was performed by Star of Indiana in 1993. In addition, Stephen F. Austin HS also performed Copland's "Grohg" as their opener, Barber's "Adagio for Strings" as their ballad and Barber's "Medea" as their closer back in 2005. Great show. They placed fourth at the Houston Regional and San Antonio Super Regional that year. Quote
Trumpet of Doom Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I'm jealous of all you guys that know so much about your shows all ready, I have no idea... Quote
TRUMPet Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Quote Pete Weber is currently Vanguard's drill designer. yeah that sounds right, i pretty pumped about it since he seems to know way more about marching than or last drill writer (he put us in a full-field block with trumpets on melody on back 20 and DL on other back 20 ugh it was death) but that should be expected since he is a DCI drill writer Quote

titancoaster Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 lol, I can picture it now, for the 2009 Marching Season L.D. Bell presents: High School Musical: The Marching Band of East High School (Spoiler; the end of the show the band dances and sings We're all in this together) and Marcus High School Presents: Hannah Montana (Spoiler; yes there is a huge Miley Cyrus Prop of "sorts") Quote
Danpod Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 In a desperate attempt to keep this derailed thread from killing innocent people standing by at the train station, here's a minor show announcement: Winston Churchill HS - Music of Samuel Barber and Leonard Bernstein. Exact pieces not yet known. I'm sure we'll get more updates about other programs once everyone returns from Summer vacation. Quote

whitewing09 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 What's Reagan playing? I was looking on youtube and someone was saying that they'll get beat easily Quote
treblemaker Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I guess you will have to wait until the first competition to find out.. Quote
