b_sax_agent Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 eh. the second time I aprticipated at GN wasn't as fun as the first time. Probably cause it wasn't as special. But that's ok. Quote

But that's ok. Dude I know exactly what you mean! When I was there for Hide and Seek in 2006, I was so excited. But 2007 with Sequenza was sort of duller since I allready knew the place, but it's still an amazing city. Quote

Trumpet of Doom Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I won't be there this year because my band directors ****ed over my entire graduating class. Quote

You were there twice with two amazing shows, one of which won a Class AAA Championship. There are band students across the entire United States who dream about participating in your organization. Stop me when I get to the "****ed over" part. Unbelievable. Quote
treblemaker Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Ditto. I would give anything to go to GN ONCE and perform. What an amazing experience that would be... *sigh* Quote

radchad Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Be lucky! I never had the opportunity to perform at Grand Nationals. Do you know how much i would give to perform in GN Finals? Gah. And to think. You were able to go TWICE IN A ROW. Mhm. Quote
ftwdrummer Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Hidalgo's currently signed up (at last check). Other than those three, no one from Texas. Quote
Danpod Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 ftwdrummer said: Hidalgo's currently signed up (at last check). Other than those three, no one from Texas. I can sense your disappointment. Here's some breakfast for thought. Texas representation at Grand Nationals on even years, starting from 2000: 2000 - No bands from Texas. 2002 - Six bands from Texas. Four made Finals. 2004 - Two bands from Texas. Two made Finals. 2006 - Six bands from Texas. Four made Finals. 2008 - Three bands from Texas. Finals representation to be determined. In the one year that Texas representation was minimal, aside from zero representation, the programs that went were very successful. The Woodlands took 7th in 2004. Stephen F. Austin took 4th, with the Outstanding Music award. Although the State isn't sending an armada of potential Finalists this year, Texas is sending the defending National Champion, a program that had a breakout season last year, and the State's first Class A program to Grand Nationals. Those story lines should be enough to keep us all fat and giggly. Quote
