b_sax_agent
yeah something like that. Impressive only for the fact that they could write a drill for that many people...
treblemaker
700..... lol, that number gets bigger every time someone brings up "Allen HS Band". They remind me of the Energizer Bunny. They keep going and going and going... I don't get how they actually move on the field at all.
b_sax_agent
when we saw them at Area 2 years ago everyone stayed in their own little 8th of the field. They rarely went out of it.
takigan
I'll bet if they cut the band into 3 Marching Bands, their top marching band would totally own.
ftwdrummer
exactly. Look at Allen High school. 700+ members and bands with less than a third of as many members do better than them. I always found that number humorous... My dad grew up in Corsicana. He remembers the good old days when there weren't 700 people in Allen. whitewing09
They march more people then my school has
b_sax_agent
They're almost as twice as big as my class size.
Trumpet Master
I don't think there is a disadvantage if you have less than 200 people... it's about how well the band does now how loud they play, a lot people don't realize that. I'll give an example... Look at Leander, they usually look around 150 but they could still kick some of those bands butts who do have more than 200 Of course I have no doubt in the abilities of the smaller bands, because I come from a 5A high school that marches roughly around the same numbers of a drum corps. Were we successful? Yes we were. Our group managed to make State in 2006 and was also the USSBA Group IV State Champion last year. Other groups like Harlingen HS and Brownsville Lopez HS proved that they can be competitive in the BOA circuit with their small numbers as well. Numbers are nice but definitely not everything, but bigger bands do look cooler when use correctly.

JediSaxSolis
Reagan and Bell have pretty big bands don't they? and their shows are awesome ohh ohh and Berkner! The school district Reagan was in recently split their highschools; so the band probably downsized.

I know form experience, getting split does hurt. but it jsut makes everyone that more pushed to reach success
whitewing09
Maybe we'll see them at state... or maybe another band who has always deserved to go to state will have their chance!

Their mascot is the Phoenix, and the show name? You guessed it-"From the Ashes."

Danpod
The newly updated list is up on the MFA website. Owasso H.S. from Owasso, Oklahoma is no longer attending the Super Regional. I was looking forward to seeing them. The Arlington Regional now has 24 bands attending, which should shorten the Regional by about 30 minutes from last year. The way the Sun faces that stadium is brutal!
radchad
I agree. But you know, loud bands are always a treat.
