xMonicax Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 This isn't a "things they say that never happen" but whatever >.> "If you can't cover down to a line, you deserve to be shot!" Can a band director really say that in front of a bunch of parents watching us practice? o.o;; Or there's always the classic "One more run-through then we're out!" Quote
meggie0789 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 So today our band director said to the trumpets " I want to see the bell bleet" i thought it to be quite amusing Quote
meggie0789 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 i meant bleed he was refering to them playing really loudly if you didnt know lol Quote
Xukaniz Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 *clears throat* "MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GOD!" Quote
artishard Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 come on, just one more time, then water. [after we've seriously been marching 180 and it's about a 6-5. they call a water break 2 minutes. that's not even enough time to really get off the field. and i'm not kidding, they time our breaks. when your performance is done, people will be throwing their babies in the air because it will be so good. football games are fun[big lie considering that it's always hot and sticky and grossss.] notes put up an octave on trumpets and french horns sound like herneas or a cat being put into a lawn mower.[no it doesn't, it sounds awesome because horns and trumpets are awesome.] that's all that i can really think of. i have funny quotes from my old band director, but they weren't lies or anything. (of course, it happens like, every break) yeah... if we threw water we would definately die... we don't really have time to since our water breaks are like 30 seconds long. my director: " the crowd is gonna be throwing babies!!!!" Lustra.exe Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 some funny inspiration for those hot rehearsals. - we love the parking lot dont we?... its the beach, with out the sand. who likes sand anyway? too true... Quote
Mculbert07 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Mr. P: We're at the beach, listen to the waves of I-35 Quote
speedracerrox00 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 "One of these things is not like the other..." ^except not so much this year "one more time" and a new one that is quickly gaining popularity... "STOP TALKING" Quote
xredsummersunx Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Yeah uh I think it's the same for every band everywhere. We have: "Last time!" "One more once" "PERFORM!" "BRING IT!" "Breathe!" "STRAIGHT LEGS!" and "STOP TALKING!" (space for emphasis) and this isn't marching band, but in jazz band my director loved saying to us (trumpets) "TUNE THE DANG D!" ...good times. Quote
G'townPIT Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 -Listen Back Pit -I love me some drummin -Make it sound like a garbage truck falling off the empire state buiding If anybody knows who Tyler Dempsey is, you know what I'm talking about^ Quote
Rebel_Bone_06 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 "Ok I won't cut you off on this run, I promise...(30 seconds into the run) CUT!!!!!!!!!!" lol Quote
coolest_kid_ever Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 "DUDE we need water!" "no, trust me, im monitoring it" (keep in mind, we'd been painting drill for about... oh 30 minutes aaaaaaaaaaand it was like 110 degrees... then... 5 minuts later... the director says..) "QUICK WATER BREAK THEN GET BACK OUT HERE" <3 it its a process Quote
acsc1312 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 My favorite- "Bring your own water bottle so you can take a little personal break if you need it"...someone steps out to take a break..."WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GET BACK IN THE FORM! WAIT FOR THE NEXT GROUP BREAK!...It'll be like 5 minutes" 30 minutes later "ok, take a five minute break" (which translates into a 2 minute water break, a whistle, and one minute to get back. oh and the classic- "one more time" (x50) Quote
cookie_monster Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 "yum yum give me....none" referring to the tuning of whatever random intrument we happen to be tuning that moment haven't heard that this year but that was a popular one in previous years oh and then there's "crazy, I was once crazy....." (<---definitely popular my sophomore year) Quote

(And that's to get there, take a drink, and get back) Everything everyone has already said is pretty much all that ever comes out of my band directors mouth, lol. Quote
R e a g a n.clarinet Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I get angry when they make us march forever in burning heat, then "get a quick drink of water and get back out here." Pfft. But, Mr. Chambers, it's 100 degrees out here and people are dying. Exaggeration. "It is what it is." -Koehl "With great success, comes high expectation! Y'all can quote me on that one. Put it on a shirt or whatever." -Chambers. He's very witty, as you can tell. Quote
mindfulmusician Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Here's a unique one... "C'mon, I could drive my truck through that hole..." - McKeithen, upon seeing bad spacing in a form. Of course, we also have the universal "one more run," "one more run then water," and every possible variation of the saying. - mindfulmusician Quote
harrellp Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 if you know the b-wood director mr. koch... then you've heard "my gosh!" way too many times.. strangely enough ive prolly heard it literally hundreds to thousands of times... and its still frikin funny when he says it. (cell rings) "hello?" (its his wife) "...riiiigghht... im in jazz band, bye" (hangs up) "anyone can march... i could grab some random druggie in the halls and teach him to march... its how you play that defines your talent" "push to the hit!"- more this year than ever "MY GOSH!" (stands up on the rail of the tower, with everyone gasping) "i want your bell up here on that horn flash!!" "i want you playing every note... if you fall down backward marching, and get your face stepped on... i want you playing every note." "b-wood? my gosh! more like B-WILL" Quote

Serardian Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Yeah our band director gives a little bit too many personal life details... Quote
MmCheezItsYay Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 lol one day out of nowhere instead of saying "set" when we were supposed to be set our director said "field" (idk why?) and thats what she was gonna say whole year. she said it the whole practice that day... ... then we never heard it from her again. she never even mentioned it.
