mbui Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Needville HS from Needville, Texas will be attending the 2008 USSBA National Championships in Annapolis, Maryland in November. They will be the first band from the state to attend the event. Needville is a small town of about 2,500 located southeast of Houston in Fort Bend County, although not part of the Fort Bend Independent School District. The band placed third last year in Class 4A at the USSBA Texas State Championships. This might not seem like a big deal to some of you guys since it's not "big splash" news, but the band deserves some recognition and they deserve some huge props. 2008 USSBA Fall Texas Schedule Quote
Danpod Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Kudos to Needville for representing our State! We all wish them a very successful season. Quote
FrontierDirector Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 That's really great news, glad to see USSBA getting a bigger presence from TX, both locally, and now, nationally Quote
madmusician Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 The band will no longer be attending due to rising fuel costs and the previous commitment to their final home football game of the season. Quote
whitewing09 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 AW MAN!! that stinks, that name sounds very familiar.... have they been a 3A in the past few years... Quote
takigan Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Yes.....I can't remember if they were a state level 3A program but they were still very good. They've placed students in the ATSSB All-State band in their time. During the summer of '05 I had a couple roommates who were in the Needville band. Both of them were talented and very committed players, I imagine this was a product of their HS program. Quote
