Danpod Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 7/8: Portland, OR Blue Devils - 85.20 Phantom Regiment - 84.15 Great stuff. High scores from both. We'll see if they both hold up this weekend. Scouts i havent had time to go through everyone yet but their show doesnt seem to be that bad (I know its rough but 13th?).... is everyone else just doin that good Their hornline is a little shaky at times. Maybe music is holding them back. Personally, I expected the show to be a lot more exciting, especially because the title is in Spanish. Quote
aaron067 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) Just a little tidbit on SCV's closer. Their drill writer was extremely late in getting the sets to them, so they took out all the stops and put the entire closer on the field in less than 48 hours. The first run of the entire show was the performance at the end of the second day, and they've only just now gotten a chance to rehearse again after several days of nothing but traveling and performing. With that said, they're also tweaking the overall design of Soul. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do this evening in Idaho now that they've had time to clean. Also, just an interesting piece of trivia, they have a total of 207 sets this year... Edited July 9, 2008 by aaron067 Quote

In 05 when SCV went through that huge ordeal where they lost half their staff and stuff... They have been recovering ever since. So, I mean. I am not surprised people feel that way about a new staff. I mean look at each caption and how different it is from caption to caption. In the Ensemble Music caption, SCV is in 1st. Then in the GE music caption they are like 5th or 6th. I think we can really get a good idea at who has a shot at the title in San Antonio. I am so psyched. From what I have seen and heard from Phantom this year, their show is just amazing. So far my other favorite besides Phantom and SCV is Carolina Crown. Hot darn are they smoking. They are steadily catching up to the Cadets. This is going to be a fantastic race to the finish. Quote
Danpod Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 7/9: Columbia, SC has been canceled in mid-show due to lightning and rain. We'll see if any scores turn up. Quote

Danpod Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 7/9: Boise, ID Blue Devils - 86.20 Phantom Regiment - 84.25 Santa Clara Vanguard - 82.85 Huge jump from the Blue Devils. Separation between Regiment and Vanguard. All three shows are fantastic. Quote
Danpod Posted July 11, 2008 Author Posted July 11, 2008 7/10: Milton, GA The Cadets - 84.95 Boston Crusaders - 78.10 Blue Stars - 76.90 Glassmen - 76.00 Spirit - 73.70 Colts - 73.60 The Cadets show up with an impressive score. We'll see if it sticks against a more competitive lineup. Blue Stars inch away from the Glassmen. 7/10: Ogden, UT Blue Devils - 86.05 Phantom Regiment - 84.40 Santa Clara Vanguard - 82.75 Blue Knights - 79.05 Troopers - 72.55 Odd scoring tonight. Blue Devils and Vanguard actually drop a few tenths. Regiment improves a few tenths. The Blue Knights took a few shows off this week and they completely owned tonight. I don't think it'll hold up but we'll see. Quote
Danpod Posted July 12, 2008 Author Posted July 12, 2008 7/11: Valdosta, GA Carolina Crown - 85.00 Boston Crusaders - 79.80 Blue Stars - 77.50 Colts - 73.90 Spirit - 73.75 What a score from Crown! They swept all captions tonight. Blue Stars improve from last night by about a point. Quote
Danpod Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 7/12: Orlando, FL Carolina Crown - 85.625 The Cadets - 85.125 Bluecoats - 82.550 Boston Crusaders - 80.675 Blue Stars - 77.500 Glassmen - 77.175 Colts - 75.300 Spirit - 74.475 Crossmen - 73.525 Crown takes down The Cadets!!!!!! Unbelievable! Bluecoats separate from Boston. Glassmen and Blue Stars remain somewhat close. The reason for the funky scoring is because in major events, you add a second percussion judge to the score. Quote

Xenon Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Blue Devils over a full half point over the Cavies and Crown a half point ahead of The Cadets! Can the Cavaliers slash the Blue Devils' absurd lead? Quote
