ftwdrummer Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 (edited) Yikes. What'd Cavies get in San Antonio back in 2002? Because I want to check the plausibility of my prediction that BD breaks that record. Edit: Just looked. About a 92.55. So, unless something drastically changes from the model of that season, BD's not breaking the record. But...stranger things have happened... Edited July 20, 2008 by ftwdrummer Quote
Xenon Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 That's all for tonight folks! See y'all later! Quote
the terminator Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 wow BD looks well on their way to Number 13 Quote
Xenon Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Hahahahaha!!! Crown breaks out KC and the Sunshine Band for their Encore! Quote
the terminator Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 so does anyone think Blue Devils will top the number from the Cadets Quote
ftwdrummer Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Which, the high-score record that Cavies set back in '02, and Cadets tied in '05? I think so. Quote

Fata1 Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Wow, BD's got themselves a nice lead going. I expected them to win but not by that much. Quote
xbones7480 Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Here's the update on the Crossmen Guard member who was injured in the afternoon show: This was posted on the Crossmen website this morning in their segment called "The Daily Planet X" http://www.crossmen.org/daily-planet-x.html?lnum=73169 " During the opener Marissa in the guard fell and dislocated her knee. She could not move. John from the guard staff sprinted on the field in order to help Marissa and keep her from being trampled. One of the guys in the guard put his flag down and helped John get Marissa off the field. He then went back to work in the show. Upon the conclusion of the show the crowd stood and cheered. It was a good performance. Marissa was loaded into an ambulance and taken the hospital. The good news is that the doctors reset her knee and she returned to the stadium on crutches. She is hopeful that she can return and perform. It will happen Marissa!" Quote

I have to say that even though The Crossmen had a great performance in the afternoon show, the audience was in shock when we saw the medical team tend to Marissa. I did not see the fall or the carry off of the field. When I saw the stretcher come out, my girlfriend and I were fearing that some sort of neck or head injury had taken place. Thankfully, our fears were diminished, even though a dislocated knee is pretty gruesome. I'm glad Marissa is doing well and everyone here at Txbands.com is praying that she'll return to the field soon! War Bones! Quote
Danpod Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Quick analysis: - Regiment takes Music. Blue Devils take Visual and General Effect. - Blue Devils sweep Visual and sweep all but one subcaption of General Effect. - Crown shocks the crowd by simply being consistent. 3rd in Visual and G.E., 4th in Music. - Crown would have taken over The Cavaliers had it not been for a VERY shaky percussion performance. 7th place in a few percussion subcaptions. - Bluecoats use Music and G.E. to overtake Vanguard. About .5 gap in both categories. Music: 1. Phantom Regiment 2. The Cavaliers 3. Blue Devils 4. Carolina Crown 5. The Cadets Visual: 1. Blue Devils 2. The Cavaliers 3. Carolina Crown 4. The Cadets and Phantom Regiment General Effect: 1. Blue Devils 2. The Cavaliers 3. Carolina Crown 4. The Cadets 5. Phantom Regiment Quote

I was on the aisle just below the reserved staff section and when he came flying down the stairs I just felt a breeze and saw a blur. And once he made it to the field he started running like his own life depended on it. That was the fastest that I'd ever seen anybody go from 50 to endzone to backfield to 30. Quote
treblemaker Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I would like to point out there was a FLUTE (maybe not a modern one but never the less) in the Cavaliers show. Thank you very much. Quote
TRUMPet Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Aw scv 7th i had high hopes that their closer would take off Quote
mbui Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 TRUMPet said: Aw scv 7th i had high hopes that their closer would take off Just my opinion but.... I thought SCV should have been sixth at least or even as high as fourth. You could tell SCV came to play last night. Their closer is a little too anticlimactic, so hopefully there will be some tweaks to Cloudburst as the season progresses. The Bluecoats are good, but their overall design and show programming leaves more to be desired. They utilize the boxing theme really well, but the design itself is a little bland. I think SCV will end up above Bluecoats once all is said and done at World Finals. As for The Cadets, the performance felt flat last night and it just didn't have that extra push to put them over the top. They march and play well, but like the Bluecoats, the design leaves more to be desired. Also, it seems like they watered down a lot of Vesuvius compared to the early season version. Vesuvius is an aggressive and angry piece. I wish they put that type of emotion into the arrangement and performance. Then again, The Cadets show is the complete opposite of aggressive and angry. TRUMPet Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Quote You could tell SCV came to play last night. from what i heard from particular unnamed inside sources.... they just werent there apparently "This *mimicks marching with figers*, isnt working with this *mimiks playing horn*." but that could just be an attempt to keep the corps from falling into a "well we just got screwed and itll (aka the judges) get better" attitude/rut. As for the cadets (although im very bias against them) didnt seem there that much. they usually have good impacts that make the show okay to watch that just wasnt as good, but tell you the truth I (note: opinion) fell they havent shown me anything that has deserved a top 5 spot as of yet. And was anyone else jealous of the 6(?) trumpets at the begining of the PR show that play that little"herald" (idk what to call it) lick Quote

It's just you. I'm not impressed by corps who have over the top trumpet blaring. I'm more into cords that have meat. Low sounds and such. That's where the good stuff is. Quote

treblemaker Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Okay. Touche. But still I am still a sucker for low brass. And by the way I will be playing bass flute this year. So there. Quote
