the terminator Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 nice job by the cavailers, and looks like the fight for the title is going to be really tight. i'm not sure exactly but is next week dci championships? Quote
ftwdrummer Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) Scores for Allentown, part 2: Phantom Regiment - 95.825 Carolina Crown - 95.400 The Cadets - 94.350 Santa Clara Vanguard - 91.700 Blue Stars - 87.250 Crossmen - 85.375 Colts - 83.650 Spirit - 83.450 Pacific Crest - 79.275 Pioneer - 74.000 Analysis: Phantom comes out of their five days off smoking...only .075 behind the Cavaliers for first going into Finals week. Blue Devils go from undefeated to third in two days, following a member suffering an aneurysm...just a bit depressing. Crossmen look to have locked up the last spot in Finals. Xenon Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I just watched Phantom's performance on the DCI Fan Network and all I can say is, Wow. The musical performance just knocked my socks off, and one of the tightest ensemble Visual performances I've ever seen from them. The only thing that is going to hold Phantom back is Visual General Effect. I'm afraid that that is going to be the sole reason they don't win the World Championship this year. Quote
Xenon Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I just compared the scores for the Cavies and Phantom across the two days' recaps, and this is what I found: - Cavies over Phantom in Visual GE by 0.65 - The only other two captions that Cavies had over Phantom were Visual Performance (0.3) and Colorguard (0.1) - Cavies only beat Phantom by 0.05 for the total Visual caption It should also be noted that Phantom had an extra day to prepare. Quote
ftwdrummer Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 even longer than that...Phantom's most recent performance before tonight was on Monday. Cavaliers (I think) had a show Thursday. Quote
Danpod Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Just watched Phantom's performance from tonight. The music was just sick. They do sound a little tired during their final chord progression but I don't think that'll be a problem next week. If Phantom is going to win, and they do have a shot, they will need another stellar music performance. Quote
Danpod Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Awesome stuff! We're coming down to the wire and things heated up real fast. The Cavaliers are top dogs for the first time all season, while Phantom finds themselves in a position to knock them off. After Allentown, a two day event with the exact same judging panel, here's what we have: The Cavaliers - 95.900 Phantom Regiment - 95.825 Blue Devils - 95.650 Carolina Crown - 95.400 The Cadets - 94.350 Santa Clara Vanguard - 91.700 Bluecoats - 90.800 Blue Stars - 87.250 Glassmen - 86.650 Boston Crusaders - 86.350 Blue Knights - 86.200 Crossmen - 85.375 The top four are within half a point of each other! I don't think we've ever seen a finish like this. I'll keep this thread open for the next couple of days before World Championships officially begin on Tuesday with the Open Class Quarterfinals. Good luck to all the corps! War Bones! War Revo! Quote
Danpod Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 P.S. I'm prediction an actual death during Regiment's show on Finals Night. Quote
Danpod Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 8/3: Whitewater, WI (Open Class) Citations - 86.65 Spokane Thunder - 86.00 Dutch Boy - 81.25 Legends - 80.60 Raiders - 80.05 7th Regiment - 78.40 Impulse - 75.85 Colt Cadets - 74.25 Racine Scouts - 70.85 Les Stentors - 67.30 Spirit of Newark/New Jersey - 64.40 Quote
Danpod Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 8/3: Westminster, MD Carolina Crown - 95.15 The Cadets - 93.90 Blue Stars - 87.90 Crossmen - 85.05 Troopers - 81.10 Crown increased their lead slightly over The Cadets. Blue Stars improve on their score from last night. Quote
Danpod Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 8/3: Buffalo, NY Bluecoats - 92.050 Blue Knights - 89.300 Glassmen - 88.500 Boston Crusaders - 87.350 Madison Scouts - 84.950 Colts - 82.550 Pacific Crest - 80.250 The Academy - 78.900 Pioneer - 74.950 Nice score from the Bluecoats. This 9th - 11th place deal has gotten out of hand. At Allentown, Glassmen, Boston, and Blue Knights (in that order) were separated by four tenths of a point. Now, the spread is two points between the three, with the Blue Knights jumping over both corps. Quote
Danpod Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 8/3: Dayton, OH (Open Class) Blue Devils B - 92.250 Jersey Surf - 90.750 Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets - 90.675 Oregon Crusaders - 89.775 Teal Sound - 89.225 Revolution - 83.075 Beatrix - 82.800 Memphis Sound - 80.400 Yamato - 80.100 Velvet Knights - 79.475 Spartans - 78.775 Strangnas - 69.925 A recap on Open Class? I'll do my best. Revolution comes out just ahead of Beatrix, a corps from The Netherlands. Santa Clara Vanguard and the Blue Devils are being well represented by their "secondary" corps, which have a younger membership. To give you an idea of how quickly things can change in Open Class (Formerly called Division II and Division III), the Spartans were the DCI Division II World Champions just last year. Quote
Danpod Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 8/4: Massilon, OH Blue Devils - 96.15 Bluecoats - 92.35 Santa Clara Vanguard - 92.35 Boston Crusaders - 88.80 Blue Stars - 87.95 Spirit - 83.10 Troopers - 82.25 Mandarins - 79.00 Good score from the Blue Devils to close out the season. Bluecoats and Vanguard tie! They are battling it out for six place, which is crucial because only the top six corps will get all the special features on the DCI DVD. Those distinctions are based on Semifinals results. Boston leaps over the Blue Stars by nearly a point! Boston is notorious for making huge strides during Championships Week. Quote
Trumpet of Doom Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Thats weird for your top 12 to differ from this one I found this on another forum. 1 Phantom Regiment 95.825 +2 2 Blue Devils 95.550 -1 3 The Cavaliers 94.767 -1 4 Carolina Crown 94.200 0 5 The Cadets 93.488 0 6 Bluecoats 90.810 0 7 Santa Clara Vanguard 90.788 0 8 Blue Stars 87.200 +2 9 Blue Knights 87.025 -1 10 Glassmen 86.990 +1 11 Boston Crusaders 86.360 -2 12 Crossmen 84.869 +1 Quote

I simply used the top 12 scores from both days at Allentown for my list. Quote
the terminator Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Go PHANTOM. To be honest can someone tell me when's the last time phantom has won a world championship? Quote
Danpod Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 8/4: Toledo, OH Phantom Regiment - 96.00 Glassmen - 88.30 Blue Knights - 87.65 Madison Scouts - 85.00 Colts - 83.55 Pacific Crest - 79.95 The Academy - 78.10 Pioneer - 74.95 Delicious score from Phantom tonight. Glassmen tops Blue Knights. I am extremely pissed at whomever designed The Academy's show this year. They are a fantastic organization with more than abundant talent, but they are clearly driving an inferior vehicle for success this year. It sickens me that someone would give them the product they have been given this year. Quote

Trumpet of Doom Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Well I hope Phantom goes all the way this year to get their own title. Quote

If you're so angry with it, I suggest you apply to be on their design team for the 2009 season. Quote
ftwdrummer Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 The other ranking that was posted was the DCI "rankings"...you know, the ones with the averages of all scores for the past week. Quote
