That's one thing that turns me off about the drum corps activity. The ego. Yes, drum corps is great, but so is marching band. Marching bands do not "suck" in comparison to drum corps. If a drum corps gets an idea from a marching band, so what? I'll admit it, I love marching band more than drum corps. I get more of an emotional attachment from marching band shows than I do with drum corps. Did you know that the Cavaliers drill designer in 1995 designed the drill for Spring HS in 1993 when they won BOA Grand Nationals? Drill designer, Greg Poklacki, used a lot of elements from Spring's show for the Cavaliers. Does that mean that Spring 1993, one of the most legendary shows to ever be put on the field, sucks? If a drum corps is getting ideas from marching band, again, please read my post from earlier---the designers and teachers that are in the upper echelon of BOA are the SAME ones that are designing all these shows in DCI. It's all the same people. You're going to see similar ideas. Are upper echelon corps in DCI better than the upper echelon bands you see at BOA Grand Nationals? Absolutely. But, are you really going to sit there and tell me that all drum corps, even the lower level World Class Corps, are better than the upper echelon marching bands that you see in BOA? This is no disrespect whatsoever to these corps, but I guess you have to be blunt and realistic to prove a point.
