treblemaker Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 This is not the Ronald Reagan High School from San Antonio that we are all familiar with. This one is located in Austin and has their own unique look on what marching band is to them. Quote The Reagan High School "Soul Raider" Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Ormide Armstrong, Mr. Alan Guckian, and Ms. Jennifer Nieman. The Double-R Dance Team is under the direction of Ms. Amy Campana. The Soul Raider Band is a project, led by Ormide Armstrong, whose sole purpose is to increase, and participation in the Arts at Reagan High School in Austin, TX. A decision was made to take a different musical approach with the band, in order to increase and retain band member participation. A head-swaying, high-stepping style of marching combined with soul, R&B, hip-hop, pop, and blues, is the marching style being used at Reagan. A team of people are working on this project. Alan Guckian is the Asst. Director of Bands at Reagan, as is Jennifer Nieman. Amy Campana is the Director and Choreographer of the Double-R Dance Team. This web site, along with a large amount of the multimedia content, is created, published, and maintained by TheWebGuy; also known as Chris Mire (aka Bari White). ** Below is a link to a video from the Austin American Statesmen as they video tape a performance. actualgirltrombone Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I saw their drumline preformance video for the KEYE Marching Challenge thingie. They look like they're pretty awesome, and a lot different than what we usually see. I'd love to see them in action live. Quote
titancoaster Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) I have seen Reagan, though it was two years ago, they remind me of a small (and I stress small) version of a band off of drumline, but I will say they are entertaining to watch (in a good way) and it made me like contemparary marching band even more Edited July 28, 2008 by titancoaster Quote
