Last year was the second time Westlake went to DMI, they went for the first

time all the way back in 1997, placing 6th.

Glenn Fugett, former director of Westlake, current director of Legacy, is not just a DCI "judge". Yes, he does some judging, but he is the Percussion Chairman for DCI.

And as his student, I have to say I disagree that "it gets to his head like crazy." He is a very creative, modern, and innovative band director.

 

And while on the topic of judges, there is no doubt the judging at DMI is always questionable..

I agree, though. The man knows his stuff.. and that is going to take Legacy a long way.

I wasn't trying to knock him or anything. It was more of, the best of the best have to have that slight ego. They are the ones that go out for blood, and he is exactly the type of the director that a modern band needs.

Ohh, believe me, he's taken us quite a ways already. He really cracks down on us, but knows his stuff.

And having him teach percussion is definitely pretty great

Actually he was our associate director. Kerry Taylor has been our head director since 1989. And yeah Mr Fugett did percussion too. *sob* he taught me everything I know! *sob*

Just to make it more fun they'll be in Abilene the night before at a football game. I wonder if some of the band will leave after halftime & have just a pep band for the rest of the game.

i've never heard of them. i think clements was one, idr the other one.... anyone know anything about them/ which area?
