It seems like they used to be pretty competitive in 4A marching. I am surprised that Wylie, Lake Highlands and Poteet are not on there. Poteet may be attending the Frisco competition instead. i believe wylie is also attending frisco Quote
Minimaster Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Last year was the second time Westlake went to DMI, they went for the first time all the way back in 1997, placing 6th. Quote

Fata1 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I'm pretty happy with our performance time. Performing sixth out of nine 4A bands isn't too bad. Quote
radchad Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Interesting. I didn't know Richland planned on attending this year. Quote

AH. Glenn Fugett, former director of Westlake, current director of Legacy, is not just a DCI "judge". Yes, he does some judging, but he is the Percussion Chairman for DCI. And as his student, I have to say I disagree that "it gets to his head like crazy." He is a very creative, modern, and innovative band director. And while on the topic of judges, there is no doubt the judging at DMI is always questionable.. Quote

The man knows his stuff.. and that is going to take Legacy a long way. I wasn't trying to knock him or anything. It was more of, the best of the best have to have that slight ego. They are the ones that go out for blood, and he is exactly the type of the director that a modern band needs. Quote
HasteTheDay Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Ohh, believe me, he's taken us quite a ways already. He really cracks down on us, but knows his stuff. And having him teach percussion is definitely pretty great Quote
