treblemaker Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Quote Public schools are ranked according to a ratio devised by Jay Mathews: the number of Advanced Placement, Intl. Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2007 divided by the number of graduating seniors. All of the schools on the list have an index of at least 1.000; they are in the top 5 percent of public schools measured this way. Texas pulled off the number two spot on the list. Below is the list of schools only in Texas in rank order. I bolded the more popular bands on here so they are easier to spot. Sorry if your school didn't make the list. Mine didn't either. whitewing09 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 I've always heard John Jay in San Antonio to be ghetto lol but I guess not? Quote
treblemaker Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 It's based on the ratio of kids who TAKE the exams not necessarily PASS them to graduating seniors. Kind of weird right? Quote
whitewing09 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Lol the only exams we take are AP Bio and Calculus, stinks lol Quote
borchnork Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Did you know that Collin County is the number 2 county in America to receive an education... We have at least 3 or 4 schools in that top list in Collin County alone. =] Quote

I think we've beat ya'll every year like 56-0 but hey education is more important than sports, right? ;P Quote
borchnork Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 haha, yah... we went 1-9 in football last year... but we're 1323 on that list, and the only school from FISD listed... and we've only been around for 5 years. =] SOOO I say that THAT is a huge accomplishment. Quote

I was just observing that they apparently focus a lot more on academics than athletics Quote
borchnork Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 haha, it's okay. We bash our football team here at Centennial... heck, the football team bashes themselves... So no worries. =] Quote
ftwdrummer Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Paschal's actually looking kinda OK...though we ARE coming off of two "perfect" seasons...riding a 26-game streak... We won two games back-to-back freshman year...people thought we might actually be "good." We haven't won since. Quote

whyband Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Well guess what, it's ridiculously difficult to do well academically while in marching band. I talked to some of my Westlake friends (#52), and they say that there are very few people ranked in their top 10% in band. Quote
