To comment on Sherman's performance, since I am from Sherman, I thought that we did very well. We have had a very interesting year however when it came to scoring. Some I agree and some I dont. It has taken Sherman this year a lot longer than usual to get at its peak. Ther were obviously things that could have improved the show, but it was the best performance we have had this year and heck I am proud of it. But be warned, next year, Sherman will be THROWING DOWN onto the field! It will be my senior year and I will be hecked if I am going to be 10th at state again. Yes I loved our show last year but I really want to beat Poteet, no offense to any Poteet people, but it is time to pass on the torch! :) ! You better be practiceing hard because Sherman will be making its come back next year. Sherman is still one of the best 4A Bands in the state of Texas! Remember that....

Sorry, back to Centennial! We got 7th AGAIN! Somehow, Sherman likes 7th place at invitationals....idk why! :) . Not next year though.

I honestly thought that either Wylie or Plano East Senior High should have been Grand Champion! I was completely jealous that Poteet did Blue Shades though, but that was the only excitment from that show. Their marching didnt look difficult, even with their jazz run.

Ego is at about an eight. We need you at about a two.

i hope u guys do well next year, and it's easy to complain about judging, but u got to take the high road and not let what judges think of u affect ur inner accomplishment. Was i disappointed when we dropped down two spots at little elm and the centennial contest, u bet. but i knew i did my best and that's all that matters

Geez! The Sherman kids' animosity towards the Poteet band has baffled me since I was in high school. Do they coach you guys to do that or something? I thought it would be better after the realignment put the two bands in different regions and areas but I was wrong!

Favorite show of the day:

Freaking Dripping Springs. =]

Not bashing ya'll or anything, but I wasn't a fan of the show last year. It was perfect, but it just didn't feel right for me, but this years show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved it. =] The paint brushes were awesome!

2nd favorite:

Poteet. Gotta love me some good Ticheli. I sat right in the middle of a bunch of Poteet parents, and they were really nice.

3rd:

Wylie. I gotta say, I've been very annoyed with bands using Appalachian Springs in their show using the SAME THEME OVER AND OVER again, but Wylie played A.S. while only using that melody once in a flute solo. It was beautiful.

I'm proud of Frisco HS for making finals. This is the most impressed with them I've been in a long time! Sherman's show made me happy overall. It gave me a nice and warm feeling all on the inside. lol. I was also super impressed with Birdville which had an off year last year, but I think is back in full service, as well as Rockwall Heath. Plano East was amazing as always.

Well, I am sorry for my sudden outburst against Poteet. They are a very good band and do deserve respect. I dont know, I guess I just am jealous of them always winning. I am sorry. :)

and to Danpod I am sorry. I guess I am feeling that other people think that Sherman isnt a good band anymore since we got 10th in State and havent really done so well this year. I just really want people to think positivily about our 140 people band. I think it is more of a personal issue than what reality really is. Once again I am sorry for my ego.

Weird enough, I was talking to someone who had graduated from Sherman in the 90's and they said that Poteet was their rival also. I dont know, they are just a good rival because they make us work harder. :) . I dont know if the rivalry will ever end as long as it is a safe and positive form of rivalry and not anger.

i really respect u guys b/c while u might not have won any state championships u also have something that our band don't have but is striving for and that's a consistent state finalist, so good luck next year and remember to watch out for us at Wakeland next year(although really sad i won't be there)

^ would that be the first watch out post for 4A state?

lol, but anyways, I seriously think that 4A is going to be intense next year and will be one of the toughest state contest 4A has ever seen. Poteet will be amazing as always, but with bands such as Hendrickson, Friendswood, Dripping Springs, Sherman, Aledo, Birdville, etc. doing amazing at BOA and other regional contests this year Poteet's title will be in Jeopardy and I cant wait to see the amazing bloodbath state will be. :D

(P.S. I am rooting for Hendrickson or Dripping, Its time again for an Area D band to take the State title)

Yeah, the Sherman/Poteet things does go way back. However, it never held a candle to the Poteet/Coppell rivalry in the 90s. That was just ugly on both sides.

As far as state next year goes, it will be very exciting to watch. This was a fantastic year for 4A bands. I kind of wish everyone (including Connally, Dickinson and Vista Ridge) had done these shows last year. It would have made state marching contest a lot more exciting. I'm not overly optimistic about a Poteet threepeat, but we'll see what happens. They lost a great senior class and I thought this would be an off year, but they wound up being even better than last year. Maybe they'll feel the hit next year, but I hope they keep plugging along. I would love to see Friendswood finally win it after being so close for so long. They'll be the favorite for the honor band competition and it would be great to see them win both titles in the same year.

I'm actually quite in love with potential Honor Band Pieces from Centennial... Won't say what they are, cus I'm not totally for sure, but it looks like our director is showing off our french horn section, which has matured a lot over the years.

I think Southwest has quite a good chance of competing for Honor Band, as well as Timberview, assuming both band record.

Well keep in mind that Friendswood wasn't in the 2007 Honor Band race because they won in 2005. In the years between they won the Sudler Flag and were invited to play at Midwest. No other 4A program has really rivaled them in the concert field over the past four years. But alas, this is a topic for another thread.
