treblemaker Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 We actually have a REALLY good flute section and every year we get shafted when it comes to solos but my directors always manage to fit in a trumpet solo into every show. We may have a flute "feature" in the ballad but it's hard to tell from the midi file. Quote

treyj Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 ours starts with a horn solo then trumpet solo. and each instrument gets the "insomniac" themed solo passed around throughout the show. it's really neat Quote

b_sax_agent Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Flute and French Horn. that's about it. Of course section features, but those are typical. Quote
ftwdrummer Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Alto sax solo (possibly tenor if our altos schmuck it up) in the ballad...that's pretty much it. Quote
treblemaker Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Quote Alto sax solo (possibly tenor if our altos schmuck it up) in the ballad...that's pretty much it. I hated hated that solo!! *plugs ears* well... I'm biased because the person who played it was a total JERK. *pause for story time and remembers back...* ...soloist does not march because they are physically unable to march so their sole job is to play the solo and thats it. Also soloist was Valedictorian of the Senior class at the time (did not end up like that at the end of the year so karma bit him in the a**)anyhoo. One practice he left and went to Taco Bell then came back and not only ate it in front of us in rehearsal but ate it on the head DM podium... /end story time :] Quote
b_sax_agent Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 we had a trumpet solo one year, and the solo was 4 notes. Every time he played it, He would crack 1 or 2 notes. And then his ego wouldn't allow him to say that it was his fault, so he blamed other people including the conductor in the back. Quote

borchnork Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 We have a trumpet solo in our opener, and we have this SUPER cool tuba line in our 2nd movement. It's my favorite part of our show. =] lol. Quote

whitewing09 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Trumpets just stink, case closed! jk one year there was a mello solo and it was soo cool to me anyway Quote
b_sax_agent Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 nah. Some trumpets are cool. Just our 'perfect' soloist was an arrogent (insert word here), so he could never do anything wrong. Quote
Liquid Midget Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 There is a Trumpet solo and a Piccolo trio in the opener. In our ballad there is a small Brass Ensemble, 2 Baritone Solos and a Trumpet solo to close the ballad. There are also many battery solos throughout the show. Quote
treblemaker Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Piccolo TRIO... Kill me now. Hahah. :] Quote
