Liquid Midget Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 ya the hole "trio" in question is just a high b natural to c trill for 16 counts while the pentagon in the drill does a zipper effect down into a five pointed star. tis pretty baller. I'm one of the soloist. Quote
b_sax_agent Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I can't remeber the last time we had a piccolo player in our marching band.... Quote

treblemaker Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I play the flute my best friend plays the picc and I still hate it. Haha. Quote
urkadrums Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 In our first movement alone we have a flute/piccolo duet, trumpet solo, trombone soli, woodwind feature section, percussion feature section, and various percussion solos. There might be more haha. Quote
marcomac29 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 there's two horn solos... and one of them is so retarded... it goes from 4/4 to 3/4 to 4/4 to 3/4... and it throws me off.... for scapegoat purposes... it doesn't help that none of our drum majors conduct together... because it starts facing backfield... and so when i turn around, whoever is on the front tower is like... 2 counts off from whatever the backfield drum major was doing... and it honestly does throw me off... but the solo in the ballad is tight.. Quote

borchnork Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I know that back at Centennial, the entire 4th Movement is a woodwind quintet. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I have a duet with a flute in our second song Quote

Dontforgettobreathe Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Soprano Sax solo in the opener Baritone solo in the ballad (3rd movement) And our first chair trumpet player has a "Solo Part" so everything he plays is a solo. But watch out for the closer (4th movement), he's got some insane licks. Quote
bdtenor Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 We open our show with an oboe-bassoon duet... Quote
treyj Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 i have somewhat of a duet thing i guess. not really though, It's more a few select woodwinds feature thing. Our ballad and closer is "harrisons dream" by peter graham and idk if you've heard it but the woodwind sixteenth notes are CRAZY @ 160 bpm. i love it though sounds soooo tight Quote

ftwdrummer Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 We're now having a French horn play the alto sax solo in our second movement. Which makes sense, since most of our altos...aren't that good, and the French horn player was our one All-Stater last year. Second movement goes on the field tomorrow night, then hopefully we get the closer drill learned fast (like, in a week), put it on the field the next week, and have a week to clean before BOA! Quote

Two of the runs are at a halt, but the last one is while moving an its not clean at all right now. I've played the runs on both Bass Clarinet and Tenor Sax, and its near impossible on the Bass Clarinet due to more pinky altering on the middle note break. During our first few performances, it was basically trading solo's between me and an alto because no one else was playing it. Thankfully more people are starting to get it. Hopefully this will probably be the biggest impact point of the show. Quote

Michellen Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 There's a flute solo in the first movement, an alto saxophone solo in the second, a flute duet in the third, and a flute solo in the fifth. The first flute solo is supposed to be played on the pan flute... I wish my section leader luck in that endeavor. XD Quote
treblemaker Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Wow... That's a lot of flute stuff. I wish our director wasn't so obsessed with trumpets. Then maybe the flutes would have their day.. Quote
AzNtRoMbOnEcHiCk Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 (edited) my set where my duet is taking place has been moved to the front. i'm stoked. Edited September 22, 2008 by AzNtRoMbOnEcHiCk Quote
