longhornsax Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 We've all been to 2 or 3 games by now. What are some of the shows you've seen from the sideline? We saw Bowie play a couple of weeks ago. Always great to watch a band with such a huge brass sound! Their show revolved around bells, and I think it has a lot of potential! Last night we played Connally. Just like us, they are very small for a newly made 5A band. What was funny is, their show revolves around night and darkness, while our show revolves around light. Very contrasting shows. As always, Connally has an amazing show, and always I am a huge fan of their musical selection and arrangement. Their size doesn't hold them back at all. What bands have you seen? Quote

ftwdrummer Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Saw Haltom's show tonight, after they beat us (Grr...if we could have gotten one measly fumble, we would have won). It's...interesting. The woodwinds and battery are fantastic, with some great soloists...but the brass was pretty iffy. The last third of the show was all over the place (I'm assuming that's because it's the newest part of the show). I have a lot of respect for the program...but I wasn't impressed by tonight's performance. Quote
radchad Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 I've seen: Timberivew. Mansfield. Summit. Legacy. Haltom. Creekview. Wylie. Argyle. Aledo. Bowie. Some interesting stuff out there. Argyle is the band I am most impressed with. I hope they win 3A state. Mansfield is well on their way to having an outstanding show if they can clean it up visually. Love the Bumblebee section of Haltom's show. Legacy has some cool audio, but like Mansfield it needs a lot of work visually. I can't wait to see LD Bell. Quote

Oh, I thought this was performances you have seen at football games.. If it's overall, then I have seen everyone at BOA Arlington, everyone at TOC, everyone at Birdville, plus a few games I have gone to. Don't get me wrong, I like your show. I was just saying I want more from it. :] I am a Hebron fan, so please don't feel like I am trying to be rude. I am really critical on visual.. so sometimes I am a little harsh. I am working on it. mnkyman663 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I saw Round Rock's show and loved it. The music rocks! (no pun intended.) That dark, creepy, loud stuff always gets me. Quote

CPFrntEns Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 The band that did the Airport show (not Gtown, I think it was Akins) was really cool. The voiceovers were very neat. Normally I don't like that kinda stuff but I think they did it very well. I really liked the beginning with everyone running around pointing, cool effect. Quote
Adelaide Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I've seen: L.D. Bell (I was most excited for this one and it really lived up to my expectations) Argyle Frisco Centennial North Crowley Juan Seguin Saginaw Western Hills Azle Aledo Weatherford Burleson and those are all that I really remember. ftwdrummer Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 (edited) Since apparently I'm now taking it on myself to bump this thread every week... Richland, from what I heard while loading, sounded good. Apparently, they had some issues with trucks getting to the game, so we went first despite being home. I'd personally like to hear from any Richland kids (hint, hint, b_sax) what they thought of us. Edited October 18, 2008 by ftwdrummer Quote
longhornsax Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 Got to see Cedar Park's show again tonight, this time from the side (slowly moving my way to seeing them from the front) Wow does their drill fly! It's obvious they've taken the difficulty level up a notch this year. There are still a few issues with keeping up with the tempo in a few people, but that is to be expected when they're moving like they are. Their music is so much better than it has been in years past also, and the show really does leave you "on edge." Such a creative theme! Also noticed (how could you not) that they played Metal Shop about 5-6 times for the crowd right after their show. Obviously a way to build endurance I'm assuming... Quote
meyousic Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Anyone seen or heard Duncanville??? Saw a post on another board that said they were pretty amazing this year. I really wanna see them this season, but am too far away. :-( Quote
treyj Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 I saw Arlington High School last night and Arlington Lamar the previous week. Lamar's show was REALY weird, based off of edgar allen poe or something. Arlington's was called city of angels. It was okay but the music and drill weren't really flowing together. Quote

This time the eyes didn't do as much... which, actually took away from the performance, I think. It did to me. Much cleaner this week though. Definitely starting to like the show. Quote
