The day is upon us. Finally (or is it all too soon) the day of the first full marching band competitions around the state has come. Having had two hurricanes batter all areas of the Texas coastline has had major consequences in all walks of life and marching band is no exception.

Many people had their homes destroyed or majorly damaged and their lives disrupted in extreme ways. Many school districts around the Houston area were closed for a few weeks due to the extensive damage. But many people have called for a return to normalcy as a way to try to get everything running again. I suspect that to some, this return to normalcy includes coming back together with their marching band family to try and put together an awesome show.

I wish the best to all bands across the state this season and my heart pours out to all of those affected and delayed by Dolly and Ike.
