Charles Akins High School 89.3 2. Vista Ridge High School 88 3. Weslaco High School 87.7 Only remember the captions for Group IV... Some thoughts - Weslaco definitely stole the crowd with their machine show, receiving a standing ovation at the end. Taft's show was definitely a BOA show, but I felt like they didn't do too much playing. LOTS of solos on various instruments. Congratz to Akins who received first overall here and then raced over to Westlake to get 5th. Had to be a rough day. Quote
rpd Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 (edited) Sounds like a very good contest. Everyone seemed to do very well. Looks like group IV was the group to beat. Taft has always had BOA style shows, but for some reason hasn't done BOA in a while. There really gunning to prove themselves after placing last at 2006 UIL State. And staying in my district, I don't know what happened to Tom C. Clark. Last year they were barely beat out by Westfield at USSBA, and took some captions from them. Now their finishing last in their group. Edited October 12, 2008 by rpd Quote
MaverickBand15 Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 The judges were really torn w/ Mcneil. Some gave us 1st and others gave us last. It was interesting. We got the percussion and guard captain in Group V open Quote

And I still have the opener stuck in my head after seeing your show twice in 3 days Interesting fact - Vista Ridge and Mcneil share a color guard instructor and both bands won the guard caption in their individual class. She must be doing something right Quote
MaverickBand15 Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 from what i was told there were 3 judges on the field, and 2 in the box. The three on the field gave us 1st, 1st, and 2nd. The 2 in the box both gave us 5th. So thats why i say they were torn. Quote
