Legacy is a new school, but we are going to show everyone that we are not the underdogs anymore. Legacy wishes everyone good luck and see you at Birdville! (btw im a trombone player as well). Quote

Summit has been open 6 years and we've proven plenty of times we can hang with the big dogs and we're still underdogs haha just how it is ;p Quote
marcomac29 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 do we have a schedule for this contest? Quote
Chris Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I've always wanted to go to this contest. We were supposed to go my freshman year when I was at Summit, but we weren't able to. I don't remember why. This looks like it should be a fun one. Can't wait. :-). Quote

itsstephenyo Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Hmm, not a bad lineup. No Marcus this year, so it kinda opens it up a bit. I see Hebron running away with this one. Other finalists include Legacy, Mansfield, Newman Smith, Flower Mound, Carroll (is this Southlake Carroll?). Quote
radchad Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Honestly, I think this one is anyone's game. At the rate some of those bands have been improving from week to week, we can expect a strong showing this weekend. Quote

I agree with you there, this contest is going to be very entertaining to watch, especially after seeing all the amazing performances at BOA Arlingtonthis past weekend. Gotta say, I was really impressed with a lot of bands there, namely Mansfield, Hebron, Legacy, and Cedar Park. Congrats to all the bands that performed all day. Y'all make me miss being in band so much. I swear, I tear up every time I see a band perform... Edited October 7, 2008 by flutespaz21 Quote

For such a small band they had a very good sound and I think their concept is just wicked cool. When Cedar Park hit that first big hit... OMG. I went nuts. So loud and powerful. Mansfield. Wow. Don't know what to say. They have improved like crazy every week. Can't wait to see them by the end of the season. Legacy is the same, pretty much. While the show is a little weird for me, I was more impressed by parts of the show rather than it's entirety. Like the muted trumpet feature.. and the Bari/Alto duet. The beginning was pretty radical. This is turning out to be a good year. :] You going to this contest? Quote

My parents are being very difficult at the moment... but I'll try to escape and go anyways! Oh, and why weren't you impressed with Hebron? I thought they did amazing this weekend. (sorry, seems from my recent series of posts that i'm a bit of a hebron fanatic...) Quote

We all have our favorites. I have a problem with that. Sometimes I hype a little too much.. x_x I am pretty sure a lot of people on this site hate me. I just wasn't that impressed. Musically they were pretty good, but it wasn't anything impressive. I think I was spoiled from the past two years. Their shows were so YEAH GET UP IN YOUR FACE and this one isn't. I just got bored during their show. I also dislike props that draw away from the band. With the eyes on the sidelines around the field, people were more focused on them and it takes away from the band.. it's a little distracting to me. Quote

The whole purpose of our eye props is to direct the attention to US in a slightly "tongue-in-cheek" manner. As far as the whole "YEAH GET UP IN YOUR FACE" aspect of our show this year... Just you wait. We have quite a few suprises up our sleeves. This year's show will definitely top all previous Hebron shows. (yes, even the "DDR show") Oh. And much to your chagrin, we will be adding SEVERAL more eyes. Sorry. Haha! Quote
JustAddWat3r Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 i had a staring contests with those eyes... i lost =\ Quote

But in all fairness, they don't blink very often. I wish I could see what they do during the show. We haven't watched film since they've been on the field with us. I feel them watching me though. As far as pleasing our nerdy audiences... Maybe we didn't go as far. (I will admit, I felt like a true nerd screaming "UP UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT UP DOWN" while performing in a marching show) Completely off topic, but why are Mansfield's show shirts modelled after the Kingdom Hearts logo when their show has NOTHING to do with the game? We already talked about this in the TOC thread. Marcomac didn't like the extremely feminine heart his BD originally made so showed the BD the Kingdom Hearts design. http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?s=...ost&p=65483 Quote

itsstephenyo Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Haha, I remember talking with one of the directors over the summer. I randomly saw Mr. Saldana at the Qdoba near Hebron. He told me that the show was going to be radically different from past years. The group I was with (also Hebron alumni) all agreed that this was probably a good decision. In all honesty, I really didn't like Waves. The Soulja Boy was just... terrible. Music in Every Direction was sweet, though! I'm starting to like this year's show. I think that Hebron is starting to play better than they ever have. The drill this year doesn't quite have the flare of past years, though. I heard that there are 90ish pages this year as opposed to almost 130 last year. Quote
