Quote
the terminator Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 u know i'm pretty sure there will be 5 so i'll take LD Bell, Marcus, Richland, Haltom, and Hebron w/ Wylie and Colleyville Heritage as my alternates although i would never want to compete at this, btw where's the competition at? Quote
queso2992 Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 It is at Pennington Field. I agree with some of your predictions although I was very surprised that colleyville heritage did not make finals at BOA Arlington... Quote
the terminator Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 darn i was hoping it was in Carollton, oh well. I get to see Grapevine, Hebron, Colleyville, Lewisville, Carroll, Marcus, Flower Mound, and Creekview all at region so i'm really excited Quote
marcomac29 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) wow... i wasn't expecting to see an area thread for a while... why do we have to be in the impossible area...? haha Edited October 6, 2008 by marcomac29 Quote
sax5warrior Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Killer area, but I don't want to assume until I have seen most of the bands. Quote
the terminator Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 true they should have it like TMEA areas that way a few more of these bands will get in Quote
treyj Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 yup gonna be super tough to get in the top five at this contest. just got keep truckin' though and work as hard as you can and let everything else work itself out Quote

itsstephenyo Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Wait, is that the list of bands competing at Area B? I thought several groups haven't even had UIL Region yet. Why, oh, why does it have to be all the way out in Pennington Field... I was hoping it'd be closer to me in Carrollton... Quote
Danpod Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Okay, let's make this a little more clear: Area B Pre-Performance Draw Area B has done a pre-draw for performance order. For example, if Sam Houston H.S. advances to the Area Marching Contest, they will perform first. If they do not advance, then Plano West will go on first at Area assuming that they advance. So on and so forth. Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Ok, that's what I thought it was. I just wasn't really sure. Quote
Fata1 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 This competition is stacked. I think I might go watch as long as I have nothing to do on that Saturday. Quote
radchad Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Just remember that BOA and UIL are different. Martin didn't make finals at TOC but they made finals at BOA Arlington. So Colleyville is not out of the game. :] Quote
borchnork Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Area B should be labeled "cruel and unusual punishment". I mean, just look at 4A for next year... Wakeland, Centennial, Birdville, Joshua, The Colony, Sherman, Aledo, Newman Smith, Southwest and Timberview.... There's pretty much the finals right there. I'm looking forward to this contest for sure though!!!! It'll be interesting to see how Bell and Marcus play out again... Quote
tigercat11 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 its always interesting to see how bands with similar talent line up againts eachother Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Not only similar talent, but that talent is among some of the best in the state. For 5A, you've got Marcus, Bell, Hebron, Richland, Haltom. Those were the five advancing two years ago. Those are big named bands in Texas. 4A Centennial, Colony, Southwest, Newman Smith (remember, they got alternate to 5A state) and Sherman. There's a lot of raw musical talent in the DFW area. Quote
marcomac29 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Idk what ya'lls expectations are, but as for my band... i just hope we make finals... our school's never done that and you gotta take it one step at a time. Quote

Our goal is to place in the top three in prelims/finals. Yeah it's a huge goal, but you can't aim low. you know what they say "shoot for the moon, because if you miss you'll land amond the stars" that's lame but very true lol Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I never liked that "shoot for the moon" thingy. Because the moon is really close... Stars are really far. Shouldn't you shoot for the stars and hope you land on the moon? Quote

I have yet to see SFA and Woodlands. Quote
borchnork Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Bell's show is called "The Quest" and includes music from Prague. INSANE! And then we have Marcus' show "The Gods". This could be very interesting.... Quote
