Aegis Fang Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 IF YOU just owned some flute chick who was trying to persuade you that her instrument is better by laughing at her and proceeding to play louder than her entire section AND YOU KNOW IT CLAP YOUR HANDS... *clap clap* Quote
TRtrumpet Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 Haha ^ Well it looks like our section is 5 people this year. Kinda too much for our bands size but it's ok... cause we rock. Quote

Xukaniz Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Whats everyones range reaching nowadays? I havent updated mine in forever... I can reach a double Bb, as in an octave above 2 ledger lines above the staff. I havent played much this summer though, its starting to go down . How is everyone else doing? Quote
TRtrumpet Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 I can't really tell what my highest note is. It's really high though, but I dont know what note it is. Lol. I will try and figure it out later. My range is going down a little too since I've been focusing more on alto sax this summer. Quote
Aegis Fang Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Well mine wouldn't be accurate, because it changes every week or so. see, I just went through an embouchure change, and I keep getting higher and higher. My highest good note right now is a high A, but I can squeak out a "D" on occasion... but last week my best note was an "F", occasionally getting up to a "Bb" so I'll let you know once it flatlines or something =p Quote

Hehe Quote
TRtrumpet Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 I just went through an embouchur change too. It's helping alot. I went from playing from the side of my mouth to the center and everything's getting better now. Quote
Xukaniz Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Did a little change myself today, been playing slightly to the left for a long time. Gonna switch to dead center now, thanks to this advice hehe. So far it doesnt feel much different. But I am sure it will show over time. Quote
Fortisimo Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 High E is the top of my 'usable range' right now... But I am actually one of our more range challenged players, plus, I just don't care all that much anymore, lol. Quote

trumpetman1288 Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I don't need range...i got skillz! I kid...wanting to play high is part of being a trumpet player, no doubt there. I keep getting close to that double G, but it never wants to come out. Right now, I just have a high E. If only my lips were smaller....and I had a thinner rim mouthpiece. Speaking of which, does anyone else play a schilke 15? Quote
Fortisimo Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Lmfao, darn straight. I've been thinkin' real hard about getting one, but right now I'm gonna stick with my 1 1/2 C. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 I got a 14b4... helped my range alot. Quote
Aegis Fang Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Xukaniz said: Dang...what change would that be? Hehe I used to play with my mouthpiece set very low on my embouchure. My private teacher moved it up so that I was centered on the mouthpiece. My tone quality has improved tons, and my range is still coming along. Endurance sucks though... I used to be able to play for three or four hours before dying out, I'm lucky to go half an hour now... I feel like a fifth grader again... =/ Quote
TRtrumpet Posted August 12, 2006 Author Posted August 12, 2006 I got a Parke-Hagstrom (sp?) mouthpiece. Im so exited... I LOVE IT! Quote
twizzlaar Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 i can scream up to an F consistantly, but above that is more of a squeek. i'm working on my upper range so i can scream a double G at the end of our show this year. Quote
Trumpeter07 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Ok, i'm not gonna lie, my range isn't all that high. I can get a double G but it is a squeak, and only comes out on occasion. High E is the one that i can get with resonance. I play to low like .25 of the rim on upper lip, .75 on bottom, and my private lesson teacher told me to change and then he siad, "if it aint hurt don't fix it." and i'm still fine. Would anyone like to post a sound bite with them playing their range? Cause i'd like to here some of these super C's Thanks Quote
TRtrumpet Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 I'll post a sound bite if you tell me how, lol. Quote

So, despite the shape difference, the are actually quite similar. now, LMB Quote
