What happend to Rio Grande City and Sharyland? from what I read previously they were contenders to make finals and possibly go to State. Did anyone see them perform?

I was seriously cheering for Sharyland..Dang:(

I remember in 2006, I was in COMPLETE shock they didn't make it.

I used to dread the days when he would go clinic with us during marching season.

Ever notice how the air gets just a little colder right before he shows up?

Yesterday was a long and sad day for the Weslaco Panther Corps...I think our Freshmen and Sophmores we pull through in two years...

You all have nothing to be ashamed of. You had a great season and the crowd loved you all.

Not a bad way to begin your new era of greatness.

I look forward to hearing great things about the WPC.

^I agree with Trumpet Master. I was in the tunnels when you guys were on, so I didn't see you, but your sound was fantastic. Believe me, many bands went home upset on Saturday, but you just have to use it as motivation for the years to come.

Check out the prelims recaps. Anyone else think this contest was a load of bull?

Really??? Just because a contest doesn't go the way you want it to doesn't mean it was "a load of bull"

The groups that made it all did really well and played their hearts out, don't drag down their accomplishment by saying something like that.

jay made it, wow, haha thats cool. no offense, but when I was in high school i never would have seen jay making it any time soon, good on them for proving me wrong.

lol the wolfman...or whatever it is he was called.

i remember the 'drama' he brought about between bands when my band and I went to state.

anyway, I graduated some years ago, and I have nothing against Mr. Mitchoka (yeah spelling?) , its all major lulz to me, but I would take everything he says with a grain of salt.

i remember now, I heard on the night that props in the wrong places messed up taft. sounds like excuses to me, but in any case, thats a shame.

Of course, I am not authorized to make statements for the band, but I noticed there were things that were not problems before.

ok ok everybody chill, don't jump to conclusions. i'm not putting anyone down here. i'm speaking about the inconsistencies between the judges' ranks. i mean look at it: one judge had psja north all the way down at 27, another had harlingen south at 24, jay at 23 and there was even a 30 for rio grande city just to name a few oddities. you can't say it's not a shame that the scores weren't at least a little more consistent. i'm putting down the uil scoring system here, not anyone's accomplishments.

don't get me wrong, i do strongly disagree with some of the overall rankings and advancing bands, but i am decent enough not to mention which ones. i will not be condescending of the hard work all 37 bands put in. and i must say i am slightly offended that you automatically assumed that i was upset because the contest didn't go the way i wanted it to. even so, of course i'd be upset in that situation. likewise, it would be easy for me to tell other people to quit complaining if the contest had gone my way wouldn't it? ;)

I'm sorry to have offended you, I have a bit quick to defend bands lately after a little incident on YouTube. If you want to know what I mean PM me and I can tell you.

I noticed alot of judging inconsistencies as well, but UIL has been known to do that. I'm sure you remember the Brownsville Lopez-Hanna situation at the last area contest.

No, I understand. This time of the year there's always a lot of trash talking going around once certain people advance and others don't. What happened in '06? I didn't really keep up with that contest as much as this year. I just remember Lopez didn't advance...

Yeah, I really appreciated all the hard work the bands put on the field. It was really a treat watching Area G. Judging has always been a problem in UIL, but hey: all you can do is pop a show and hope for the best. It's their game, not ours. So good work everybody! :D Congratulations to all the advancing bands and I hope them the best.

Although I must say, it's comments like these that really offend me. Especially since I am a member of the band being commented on:

It's the comment by jevil91

It's always great to take pride in your accomplishments, but never to the point where you are putting down others.

Once again, congratulations to the advancing bands.

Just that Lopez was 2nd place in prelims and Hanna ended up being Area champs that year.

I think Hanna was 9th in prelims, it just shows how inconsistent the judging is.

They both had good shows, but UIL is weird sometimes.

Area 2006 was a very interesting contest. I remember crying because I was so mad at the thought we'd miss out on state again. Anybody hear of Area E 2004? :(

Wait. Taft went to state in 2006. I remember 2006 very well. Finding out we made finals will probably go down as the best memory in my marching life because we weren't expecting that to happen at all. Funny how 2008 will go down as my most dreaded memory.

Yes, we did. I have to say that is probably my favorite memory EVER:) This contest was so different, though. I mean, usually Taft and Marshall go to finals together. we're like buddies;) Heh. Northside is so huge, it's a surprise we don't just have our own Area already! Just kidding, of course
