princess Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Area E Finals - 19 bands in prelims, 7 in finals, 3 to state Qualifying for state: Langham Creek, Cypress Falls, Clements Quote
taylorroh Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 1. Langham Creek (unanimous 1st prelims and finals) 2. Clements 3. Cypress Falls Cy woods should have also made state, seeing as there was ORIGIONALLY 20 bands qualifying for area E, but one band for some reason didnt get their paper work signed correctly and couldnt compete, so there were only 3 advancing, and cywoods is 1st alternate. Wasn't the 20th band SFA? I think it was mentioned in another part of the site that they specifically chose not to attend area due to travel issues concerning the state contest should they have advanced. Quote

I think the school was Westside highschool that didnt get there paper work in. And I heard SFA opted out of UIL because they wanted to focus on BOA, where the system favors them more. Quote
Euphftw Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Yeah SFA had homecomming the same day and i can see some pissed band members if they would have had to go. Quote
princess Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Anyone know what happened to Katy Taylor? I thought their show was awesome and can't believe they weren't in the top 3 Quote
mitz1 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I thought it was Katy Taylor that didn't turn in their paper work... They did have an amazing show and should have gotten first IMHO. Quote
princess Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 It was apparently Westside that did not turn in their paperwork, so they were not even at Area. If they had been, 20 bands would have participated and 4 could have gone to state. Taylor was great. What is really unbelievable is that they came in dead last in the finals. Finals results were: Langham Creek Clements Cypress Falls Cypress Woods Cy-Fair Dulles Taylor Full results for prelims and finals are posted at: http://www.uilforms.com/regions/23/AREA%20...sults-AreaE.xls Quote

I cant believe Cy Falls was 6th in prelims, and Dulles 2nd. Langham and Clements were basically locks for a spot (no surprise), but the last spot really could have gone to anyone. Im glad falls got it though, expecially since i know they missed state by one and were alternate last go around. Quote
