Nah, the problem was they didn't get I was making a joke. I think the message was well taken from the person who posted the 'emotional' story. Comical relief is needed sometimes. I didn't insult anyone, if I hurt your feelings by being funny then I think that's something you can get0ver.

I could care less what you said. I have nothing to get over. Now move on...shall we?

Oh sorry- I wasn't talking to you when I said that, I was referring to the person who got might have been offended by it. There's always the private message button if someone has an issue with what I say, otherwise they're gonna get a healthy dose of some more, guaranteed. You'll find I like pushing people buttons  .

But yes, lets move on...How 'bout them, uhhh, UIL Judges with their whacky judging system? Makes for lots of negative bonding, that's for sure!!!

Lol, I can assure you i'm not Danpod or any other moderator. They have no problem voicing their opinion from their accounts. I'm pokerface, no more, no less.

However, I am insulted that you would say I sound like Danpod! BLASPHEMERS! :P

Treblemaker got the joke too. I think these kids are too young to understand my sense of humor. It may be dry as an old piece of leather, but it's very much there.

Let me explain so the Cedar Park/Coppell individuals who jumped the gun will 'get it'. It was well placed sarcasm to back up the fact that it is very stupid to think that it is all about winning a trophy or a medal. If you read what I said, you'll see just how silly it actually is if someone were to have a mindset like that. Thus, that's why it is sarcasm and makes for a great joke...if it doesn't fly directly over your head. B)

To drummerjake: You calling me a 'dick' isn't even funny, and shows your lack of observation and wit.

Well im sure there are some people from marcus or ld who are like that, my bad for not getting your sarcasm but im pretty sure other people thought you were serious.

dick.

Wow.... How old are you? Name calling? WOW. Just WOW.

Didn't State end about two weeks ago? Maybe the State contest didn't end yet. If that's the case, I need to get back to the Alamodome!!!!

Here are some thoughts:

- Name calling is bad, especially when you have your school plastered on your signature. It makes you look bad. It makes your school look bad. I've been preaching this crap for a number of years but I guess I haven't done a good job of it. No need to call people inappropriate names. Don't make your school look bad.

- I do not have alternate screen names on this site. In the nine years I have been involved in this activity, I have never disguised my opinions. I have always put my own Seal of Approval on every one of my posts ever since I was a Freshman in High School. The only time I have really backed down from the way I voiced my opinions was last year, when I stopped cursing on the podcast. I have always made myself accessible to anyone who has varying opinions with me and I have had no problem admitting when I've made an oversight in judgment.

I would go open up The Sacrificing Pit but the cold front just came through here and I'll be plenty cold in Indianapolis tomorrow =)

To help smooth things over, I would like to share a Bill Cosby Remix:

Thanks for reassuring us that I was right, that you are in fact- just a kid.

I can assure you that both the directors at Marcus and LD Bell perpetuate an attitude and environment of maxing out your potential, achieving excellence in the music arts, and being classy when you reach such high levels. You would be very hard pressed to find kids in those programs (programs you so unfairly called out with zero reason or evidence other than they are at the top) of being boastful in such a way. You really need to take a step back and look at how you represent Cedar Park as well as your drumline. I sincerely hope your peers do not share the same attitude you posses. Think about how your director might feel if he was browsing around here to read that one of his students was calling someone a 'dick' on a public forum with Cedar Park plastered all over his signature. I'm just trying to help you out here, before you get smacked around by your band director or one of your fellow band-mates.

Thanks for clearing all that up Danpod, you are truly the master of this domain... www.txbands.com domain that is ;)

Pokerface, it's the internet and interpretation is limited. It wasn't well placed, as the first time I read the post three minutes ago I had the same reaction. Sarcasm is usually denoted with a tone of voice, something fundamentally absent from a textual message board. What you type is literally interpreted simply by your words, not how you said it in your mind.

Now I'm not taking sides here. It's good to hear that you meant it to be sarcastic. But no one overstepped their bounds replying to you. In the end, if your comments prompted such a reaction from so many people, perhaps you should step back and look at yourself. It may not necessarily be their fault that they literally read what you typed. Maybe you just worded your post inappropriately.

And seriously... there are worse things than being called a dick. Don't blow one word into a bunch of hullabaloo when its not even worth it.

Take a step back and look at what? I never said being called a dick was terrible, I said he needs to watch what he says when he represents a group. I never blew it into a bunch of 'hullabaloo'. People that took it literally did, and I find that pretty funny. You think the Cedar Park band director would think it's ok for him to be insulting anyone or calling anyone names on a public forum? I don't think he would like it at all. I never said anyone overstepped their bounds by replying to me, nor do I feel have overstepped mine- but I think calling someone a dick is definitely overstepping their bounds.

I don't need to take a step back and look at myself because I have done nothing wrong here. I simply explained that it was sarcasm and that some people didn't get it. I don't come on here representing a group, calling people names. I will continue to have the same sense of humor, and opinionated attitude- that's what a public forum is for. Unless you call me names, or hurl insults at me, I always respond reasonably and without malice like I have been since i've posted here. If you dont read thee forums enough to get a feel for how people are with humor, opinions, and statements, then maybe you need to browse around some and take things into context before you start posting. I don't mean you personally, but to people who are new to the forums. I mean no harm, and I understand why someone might take sarcasm literally. That's half the joy of a public forum.

Good day sir.

umm yeah, so can we just close this thread or something, because its just a bunch of rediculous off-topic name calling, or complaining about the judging system

state was 2 weeks ago.. why is this still up??

Yes, it is Bell 2001 (Exodus) to a T in the musical book (even John Pollard was impressed that they didn't water down the drum book). And it is very similar to Bell 2001 from a drill perspective in difficulty, style, and ideas. And they executed it on a really high level just like Bell 2001.

Argyle's drill was written by Nathaniel Nuegent. An up and coming drill writer from the Dallas area. He was at Creekview High School prior to Preston Hazard. He also writes for Coppell, Wills Point, Denton Ryan and a few others. He is really good at writing to the band rather than the band having to adjust to him.

You will see his work this summer in the DCI arena as he will be the drill designer for the 2007 DCI Division 3 World Champion Memphis Sound. Memphis Sound will be moving their base of operations to the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex starting this year!

Your right, we should stand still and play sweet music.

Ugh, I hated how one of the winter drumline judges commented about "musical theatre" or something like that. I understand the concept of telling a story but excitement, difficulty, intensity...those rank above for me, well, most of the time.
