Fortisimo Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Hello all! I haven't really been around lately, but I just this past summer got a new comptuer, with a helluvah lot more power before, and so I've been back at it, writing stuff in my free time, so I thought I'd let ya'll have a listen to some of my newer stuff and see what you all think. Reviews/comments/criticisms are very much appreciated! Kujo 1 Kujo 2 These two are written to be soundtrackish pieces of music for a videya game that's kind of in development, although probably will never see the light of day. At least it'll have a soundtrack lovingly crafted for it when it dies before it's ever born, eh? haha, hope you enjoy! Quote
Fortisimo Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Ah man, links expired. Es cool, I took a page out of some of the other guys on here and uplaoded the tracks to my old myspace, haha. I guess that thing isn't entirely worthless after all! Anywho, check em out. Kujo 1 and 2 mainly. http://www.myspace.com/fortisimoproductions Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Gave everything a brief listen, because I've got a lot to do today. But you have some awesome stuff going on. Still using FL studio? Quote
Fortisimo Posted November 3, 2008 Author Posted November 3, 2008 Yeh, just as a sequencer here. Got a new orchestra synth though, as you might've noticed. It's pretty legit... about 14 Gb worth of samples, haha. Unfortunately, even with 3 Gb of RAM, I hit the ceiling at one point on Kujo 1; wanted some smooth string arpeggios near the end, but had to change the course, cause I didn't have enough RAM to put in strings that aren't legato. A shame, really. But sometimes sacrifices must be made, no? Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Thats very unfortunate. And 3 gigs of RAM is pretty hefty, what sampler where you using??? Quote
Fortisimo Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold Edition Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Awesome, East West has some great samples, not to familiar with their orchestra stuff but from the sounds of it its definitely high quality. The arranger for the Blue Stars, Frank sullivan, was telling me how he uses the Vienna philharmonic instruments for stuff in cubase. Apparently the sample library is like a TB. I can't even imagine where I would even start with all of that... I just use all the sounds that came with Reason, there's a pretty heft variety and the sounds are way above average. Haven't really had the need for anything else yet. Just started toying around with logic too Quote
Fortisimo Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) I actually used Vienna for a phase, but was unsatisfied with the sounds to be honest. So far, EWSO has been the pinnacle of orchestral VST's I've found. Haha, well, the thing is that the sample size doesnt' really mean you have direct use of all those samples, they are all interwoven together in complex ways, based on pitch and velocity, vibrato, tremelo, different styles, all kinds of stuff. ANyways! What do you think of the music though? Edited November 5, 2008 by Fortisimo Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Kujo 1- Writing as I listen. Very nice hook that starts off in the vibes and is passed around to the rest of the sections. I can definitely see this being on a soundtrack to something. Does a great job of building intensity until it drops off to the slower ambient section. The slower string chorale does a pretty good job of holding your interest until the next big moment. The next big moment being at about 5:30, I think it sounds awesome! Very epic sounding. And back with the theme in the vibes after the release, very cool effect. Its evident you put a good deal of thought and time into making this. Kujo 2- Has a really cool middle eastern feel with the guitar and oboe at the beginning. Nice trumpet licks at the 2:20 mark, definitely a fan of those =) This piece has a really cool feel to it. My only complaint is that the guitar at the end feels a little abrupt Quote
