U of Houston Football player breaks leg on a band cart

What you guys think about this? Should this ban anything (band property or not) to be stored in the back of any NCAA Division one endzone?

I would not be surprised at all if Marshall ended up being sued. It seems like all of the elements are there for negligence. Really feel bad for the UH player. This was completely avoidable.

Yeah i wouldn't be surprised at all. and I bet the Conference USA gets a rule in place before Saturday's games start, and the NCAA makes a rule in the off-season.

I was watching the game when I saw this injury. I didn't think too much of it at first. Then, I realized that the cart probably wasn't made out of plastic. Ouch! I feel horrible for the guy. The player's medical bills are already being covered by Marshall's insurance carrier. However, the University should expect to pay a lot more in the lawsuit that I'm sure will be filed. Those carts were about three or four yards outside the endzone. When a player is running full out to the back of the endzone, it's nearly impossible for him to stop his momentum to avoid stationary obstacles.

 

I love how Reece Davis, the ESPN commentator, sounded so bewildered when describing the "paraphernalia" in the back of the endzone.

Yeah but I give him a break on that, he's a football announcer not a band expert. lol. He was probably he ticked off too.

lol i feel sry for the Football team.. i mean this isnt just another reciever they have... hes a HUGE part of there offense... i smell a lawsuit of some sort

I don't expect a lawsuit. The young man told ESPN that it was no one's fault and isn't pointing fingers. Though I do expect some rule changes pertaining to the distance of off-field equipment to the end zone.
